John the Navigator Supreme on Scafell Pike
The drive up to Scafell Pike took just over 4 hours. On the way we had to stop at a service station to fix a broken indicator/brake light a pit stop even Ferrari would have been impressed with!!

But even with that we made good time and didn't get held up at all. The weather was still holding out for us and as night fell, we could see that there were some clouds but nothing that looked too threatening, so far so good.

We arrived at the Wasdale Head car park 30 minutes ahead of schedule. We jumped out, got our rucksacks ready, gear on and we were off on number two...
This one really sapped the strength in our legs. Virtually the whole route up Scafell is either stone steps or rough rock that requires a bit of a scramble in places.

As we started, it was dry and relatively clear, but the cloud soon started to drift in. As we looked up we could see the top gradually disappearing.

Because we knew this one was going to be the most difficult, John had planned our route very carefully, marking bearings on the map prior to our departure. This proved to be invaluable as we made our way up in the dark and mist.

As we made our way up, counting steps along the way to help with our navigation, visibility deteriorated and we had to stick close together to make sure no-one got separated from the group.

Looking back down, we could see other cars arriving in the car park, we would meet some of these 3 peakers on our way down.

Finally after 2 hours and 40 minutes, we reached the trig point. Crouched down in front of it I tried to take a picture of the other three, but the mist was so thick I couldn't see anyone. Fortunately the picture came out a lot better than expected.
