Day 57 - October 29th - Malacca - Hot/Sunny
(IJH) First full day in Malacca we walked around with Gemma and Becky and spent a good 45 min in the history of Malacca museum which was quite interesting if slightly overloaded with lots of small writing. The Chinatown here is also very nice and quite quiet for a Chinatown area - pleasant little backstreets - the usual selection of temples awaited us.
Deciding on a change from the normal 'chicken rice' food that is everywhere in Malaysia we opted to go to the local supermarket and buy food to cook and ended up with a delicious dinner of penne pasta and Dolmio sauce with a bottle of vino callapso (Australian red).
Day 58 - October 30th - Malacca - Hot/Sunny
(IJH) A very lazy day for the most part - relished in the glory of having fresh fruit for breakfast and baked beans on toast left over from our shopping trip yesterday - eventually made it out to town and while the girls were taking a dip in the local swimming pool (myself and Dave declined on the basis of a) you had to wear Speedos which are a very bad fashion statement anyway and b) it seemed pointless forking out for something that we would only use once) we wandered around the Maritime Museum which was a mix of good and bad - although the Frigate and Old Galleon were fun to walk/climb around. We also had a look at the old Dutch Church on the hill build around 1550 and enjoyed the shade there.
Other than that  not much today...!

Addition - Having intended on having another reasonably quiet night in with a couple of beers in the hostel - we ended up splitting a bottle of Thai Brandy (oh quality stuff) and going out to a nightclub around the corner called of all things 'Spazzos' - playing RnB music and surrounded by mainly Malay Malccan's we were accompanied by 2 mad Italians who we off their tree. A good night but not that cheap ! At about 0430 I ran out of steam and wandered home...
Day 59 - October 31st - Malacca - Hot/Sunny/Humid
(IJH) Hangover day - soon I will learn and realise that alcohol is bad for me ....oh is that a pig flying past the window..............
A quiet day all in all with social games - they have a 'Skrapple' board here which has all the letters re-written on with felt tip pen -  finished off by a singsong on the rooftop garden by talented individuals amongst us that have  a musical bone in their body unlike me!
Day 60 - November 1st - Malacca - Hot/Sunny/Humid
(IJH) Obviously after the hard energetic days over the last week we decided that it being a Friday and a day of rest we should take it easy.....probably have time to squeeze in a couple of beers before we leave tomorrow.
Day 61 - November 2nd - Malacca to Singapore - Torrential Rain
(IJH) A fairly uneventful journey to Singapore on 5 hr bus ride via Johor Bahru - arrived in Singapore in torrential pouring rain and waited around for Alasdair who the bus left at the border because the driver was an impatient git. Luckily he got on the following one ok. A wander around CBD of Singapore near Boat Quay and a well deserved drink in a veru posh bar at the Quay. Staying in a nice little place called Ali's Nest in Little India, and had some wicked  Indian food with fresh baked naan to go with it.
Day 62 - November 3rd - Singapore - Warm/Humid
(IJH) I headed into town early with Alasdair/Sonya/Sian to have a look around the old buildings and Clarke Quay - very nice. Alasdair had to leave for a flight to India and the rest of us decided to go to the Zoo - we went on the Night Safari which was very good - got really close up to the animals and made amusing by the very sureal commentary that went with it (we were on a little train type thing for most of it) but the woman kept saying things like - 'Imagine if you were running free in the fields next to the Deer', and making quips about how the only bull in a field of Waterbuffalo looked tired due to all his 'physical' excertations.....
Ended up being a late night - grabbed some food and headed to the airport at 1am only to discover we couldn't check in early and go through to the departure lounge as there wasbody on the Quantas desk until 6am.  An uncomfortable kip as you couldn't sleep on the chairs (must have been designed that way (!) so slept on the floor for a couple of hours....
