Day 1 -September 2nd - Manchester/London - Warm/Sunny |

(IJH) The beginning of a very long journey....on our way to Singapore via Heathrow...bring on the airline food.. |

Day 2 -September 3rd - Singapore - Hot & humid... |
|
|
|
(IJH) Brief note..........Have landed safely and I am currently sat next to my ginger compatriot... Singapore very hot and humid even though it is half past nine. We have a lovely room with views overlooking nothing as it has no windows. But Lord be praised it at least has an air conditioning unit !!

Day 3 - September 4th - Singapore - Overcast/Humid |

(IJH) After a lovely nights sleep where we both woke up at 3 am and played chess untill 0430 we arose at midday to take in a bit of Singapore. A lot of time was spent orientating ourselves - Singapore has quite a lot of nice colonial style buildings down in the CBD and these nestle in between the array of skyscrapers..
So far it's been very clean - probably something to do with the $1000 dollar fine they slap on you if you're caught littering - and people generally seem really helpful. So far have trekked most of the way round the city centre - highlights being Boat Quay and the Pedang ( the old cricketing ground) - Bugis street near where we are staying is also very lively - only S$18 to you sir if you wish to buy a fake Rollex or Tag.
Suntec City is a massive shopping mall - where they seem to sell everything except mosquito nets apparently - the scary thing is that they just laugh when you ask them about it implying that moquito bites are for wimps........(DL) You'd better find a net soon, because you sure as hell aren't getting in mine with me!!
(IJH)Food is cheap bear is expensive - both around the same price of about 2 quid.
The current plan is to see Orchard Road tomorrow and then head on an overnight sleeper to KL in Malaysia...more to follow.....
(DL) Singapore is really lovely but I can't wait to go north to get me some shore leave and find some beach and laydees. We're off now to get some food and a cool beer.......talk to you guys again when we're in Malaysia. |

Day 4 - September 5th - Singapore - SunnyHumid |

|
(IJH) Managed to make it up slightly earlier today - spent a lot of the day up in Orchard Street which is Singapore's version of Oxford St or Rodeo Drive. Very westernised - but there are cool little old terraces just off the main street. Also tripped up to the Botanic Gardens which were pleasant and the Orchid garden which was pretty nice if you like that sort of thing.
Getting a train tonight to KL.......
(DL) I ain't getting on no train fool......
(IJH) Drink the milk Lever, drink the milk.......

Day 5 - September 6th - KL- SunnyHumid/Thunderstorms |

|
(IJH) Arrived in KL at 0620 this morning - the train was much better than expected - comfortable (although rather short) bunks to sleep on which even shared with our pack allowed us to get some sleep. We have spent today wandering around KL - Petronis towers tomorrow (early start) - although we did get a good view of the city from the KL tower nearby - as well as visiting the national mosque. I have to say that Dave and I looked rather fetching in the all over smoks we had to wear - watch out ladies we're changing religion......
Anyway had our first sight of rain as it p*ssed it down this afternoon for 2 hours in a tropical rainstorm. Stuff is cheaper here - beer is still 2 quid - a meal 1 pound and some fake oakley sunnies for about 2 pound ! Till tomorrow......
