I never get anything from the Gift Tree!
Unfortunately this does happen, I'm not a neobillionaire and the Gift Tree is supported entirely by donations (we're not begging) so we only grant four wishes each fortnight unless a lot of np/items have been donated then we're extra generous. Also, if your wish has been granted before we do overlook you and grant others' wishes.
How do I get upgraded?
You can get upgraded a couple of ways. Firstly after you make a certain number of posts, it's not too high, you'll be upgraded to an Operativ Faerie. If you run a guild endorsed shop you will be upgraded to Merchant Faerie. Finally if you adopt a pet (can be on another account) you'll be upgraded to Foster Faerie. The other position not on the council is Earth Faerie and that is reserved for people who have been rotated off of the council.
Merchant Faerie, neomail ladee_sarah and ask her to review your shop.
Foster Faerie, neomail ladee_sarah telling her that you adopted a pet.
Where's the NeoSchool?
The NeoSchool is in the trades of the account hyn_athenaeum (also controlled by ladee_sarah). To get there you could look up hyn_athenaeum in the search box or click the link above the Newsletter banner on the guild front page.
When I make an offer for a book I never get accepted!
This could be because of two things. One, you weren't the first person to bid on the book OR two, the book was an expensive one and in the wishlist it meantions paying at least ?np to help pay for it.

I don't have any NP help me please...
Anyone who has been playing for a while will tell you that if you need some fast NP, play some games! Once you have some NP we recommend opening a shop and selling food (it has a good return generally).
No one's buying anything from my shop :(
People rarely just 'pop' into a random shop they usually look up items through the shopping wizard. It's a good idea to see what the item is selling for and base your price on that but it doesn't have to be the absolute lowest.
I'm going away what should I do with my pet?
DO NOT ASK SOMEONE TO LOOK AFTER YOUR PET WHILE YOU'RE AWAY, instead book it into the NeoLodge. You can get there by going to the main shops menu and then NeoLodge.
