The Hunter Gatherers - Plymouth Banjul Challenge
Richard and Christine Hunter  are the Hunter Gatherers team taking part in the 2007 Plymouth Banjul Challenge.

The
Challenge involves driving a left hand drive "banger" from the UK to Banjul in Gambia, loosely following the route of the famous Paris Dakar rally.

We are one of 200 teams who will be setting off just after Christmas 2006 on a journey that will take between 3 and 4 weeks. We are in Group 3 - click on the Plymouth Banjul logo for more details.

When we arrive in Banjul - a journey of over 3,700 miles, we will give our vehicle away to the organisers who will auction it to raise money for
Gambian charities. We will also be giving away a lot of equipment and other goodies that we hope to gather.

The route will be very challenging and includes the Pyrenees mountains, the Atlas mountains and the Sahara. In addition we will be facing the bureacratic challenges of entering   Mauritania, Senegal and Gambia plus negotiating some minefields!

Why are we doing it?
1) We genuinely want to raise some money for those in need
2) I bought a tie dyed shirt from the Banjul market while on holiday 8 years ago and despite it costing all of 2, it has shrunk and I want to take it back!
3) After 32 years of marriage, we want an adventure!
