1. Introduction.

These pages describe the pinout of some Hewlett-Packard graphic calculators, and the schematic of some cables and adapters. They can be useful, for example, to build a cable from yourself or to connect external devices to your calculator.

Be sure the cables you're using are the same used by me! You can find the part/no. on the bottom of the connector or on the cable itself. In case of doubt, check them with an ohmmeter. Also, be sure to read the pinout assignment before starting.

2. Pinout assignment and pin description.

Please read this section carefully.

Conventions used:

2.1. 10pin connector (used on HP38 and HP49G calculators).

3. Cables & Adapters.

3.1. HP48/HP200LX-PC Cable (F1015-80002).

This was originally created to connect the HP-200LX with the PC, but then was sold with a 10pin-to-4 adapter (5181-6643) in order to use it as HP48 S- and G-series PC-Link.

Never (***NEVER***) use this cable on a HP38/HP49G.

IMPORTANT: - means UNUSED; but all the wires are connected!!! You can easily convert this cable as a HP38/HP49G link. See section 4.

3.2. HP38-PC Cable (F1207B or 8120-6736).

This cable is the HP38 PC-Link. You can use it safely on a HP49G too.

This cable is the new HP49G PC-Link. You also get an adapter (F1633-66001) to use it with any HP48.

This is the cable hp gives you with the new HP49G. You also get an adapter (F1633-66001) to connect the HP49G with any HP48.

This is the adapter hp gives you to use the HP200LX cable (F1015-80002) as HP48 PC-Link.

This is the adapter HP gives you to connect the HP49G with any HP48 using the HP49G-HP49G Cable (F1633-66000); it's also included in the HP49G PC-Link (F1897-66000) to use it with any HP48.
