These pages describe the pinout of some Hewlett-Packard graphic calculators, and the schematic of some cables and adapters. They can be useful, for example, to build a cable from yourself or to connect external devices to your calculator. Be sure the cables you're using are the same used by me! You can find the part/no. on the bottom of the connector or on the cable itself. In case of doubt, check them with an ohmmeter. Also, be sure to read the pinout assignment before starting. 2. Pinout assignment and pin description. Please read this section carefully. Conventions used: * The pinout is assigned, in male connectors, from left to right and from top to bottom. This convention is EIA/RS232 compliant. * In female connectors, pinout assignment is mirrored (i.e., from right to left). * I assume the calculator as a DTE, so RX means data TO calculator, while TX means data FROM calculator. * Data from/to the PC are called DATA-OUT and DATA-IN, respectively. 2.1. 10pin connector (used on HP38 and HP49G calculators). This was originally created to connect the HP-200LX with the PC, but then was sold with a 10pin-to-4 adapter (5181-6643) in order to use it as HP48 S- and G-series PC-Link. Never (***NEVER***) use this cable on a HP38/HP49G.
