JOHN D. HOURIGAN TAKEN BY DEATH
WELL KNOWN EAST END NATIVE DIES AT SIMMSTOWN HOME
Death came suddenly to John David Hourigan, 74 years old, at his home near Simmstown in this county Wednesday night at 12:00 o'clock.  He apparently suffered a heart attack and before a physician could be summoned he had passed away.  Previous to the fatal attack he had been in his usual good health, and the day before had  attended to work about his home.  Mr. Hourigan was born in the eastern part of the county and was a son of
Mr. and Mrs. James Hourigan, who died several years ago.  He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Lou Myers; three children , one daughter and two sons, Mrs. A. J. Hourigan of Lebanon, Roy Hourigan of Louisville and Oscar Hourigan who lives at home.  One brother, Robert Hourigan of Harrodsburg, and four sisters, Mrs. Rusaw Hagan of Texas, Mrs.  George Clarkson of Missouri, Mrs. J. C. Gordon of Washington County and Mrs. John Vandivere of Florida, also survive.  Funeral services conducted by the Rev. T. J. Porter of this county, will be held this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at  the Haysville Baptist Church.  Burial will take place in the Haysville Cemetery.

DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS
Mrs. Lou Hourigan, widow of John David Hourigan, died Sunday night at 11 o'clock at her home near Simmstown, following an illness of hardening of arteries.  She had been in poor health for some time.  Mrs. Hourigan was born in Indiana November 12, 1863, but had spent most of her life in the eastern part of this county where she was well known and had many friends.  Before her marriage to Mr. Hourigan on October 18, 1883, she was Miss Lou Myers, daughter of
James and Sarah Hays Myers, both deceased.  Five children were born to the union, two of whom have passed away.  The surviving children are:  Mrs. Albert J. Hourigan of Greensburg, Roy Hourigan of Louisville, and Oscar Hourigan, who made his home with his mother.  One sister, Mrs. Mollie Isaacs of Gravel Switch and one brother, John Myers, of this county, also survivie.  Her husband died in October, 1933.  Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. T. J. Porter of this city, assisted by the Rev. J. L. Dotson of Gravel Switch, were held at the Haysville Baptist Church Tuesday morning and burial was in the Haysville Cemetery.  The pallbearers were Claud Funk, Rufus Kern, E. C. Hays, Fred Yankey, John Funk, and J. M. Horan.
