About Us

Hi, I'm Jayne. I have been a circus fan since my first introduction to the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus at Madison Square Garden, located in New York City. I don't exactly remember when our mother started taking us to the circus, but I believe I was 6 or 7 at the time. I am one of those baby boomers, born in 1949.

I can still feel the thrill of the static in the air as my younger brother, Michael, and I watched with awe at the activity in the three rings. If I close my eyes, I still can hear, "peanuts, popcorn, and candy: get you peanuts, popcorn and candy."

I often wonder how much of the circus I actually saw since I had my eyes closed half the time. I was always afraid that someone would fall off the high wire or one of the animals would catch on fire as they performed their famous jumps through the burning hoops. I enjoyed the circus parade the most with all the glitz and glimmer and the beautiful ladies. The bright and colorful costumes were eye-catching. I always wanted to be a trapeze artist and wear a pretty costume when I was young. The closest I ever came to that was wearing a costume in a ballet recital.

When I was first introduced to the circus, I remember how excited we got at the "freak show" that surrounded the outer walkway of the ring. I was amazed at the sword sallower, the flame eater, the bearded lady, the snake charmer, the tattoo man, and the freaks of nature.

I'm 52 years young and still enjoy the circus. I don't think I'll ever outgrow this rare form of entertainment that has survived for more than 150 years.

Hi, I'm Bonnie. I wanted to do this informational site because clowns and the circus represent a bright and happy way of existence. When you are in that big tent, you feel carefree for an hour or two. During my research for this site, I was lucky enough to come across some very interesting personalities and Web sites. I found out there is someone literally a few streets from where I live, who makes shoes for clowns worldwide. I enjoyed gathering the information included on the pages incorporated here and I hope you enjoy it, too.
