"Ladies, gentleman, and children of all ages, welcome to the greatest show on earth!" Anyone who has ever attended the circus thrills to this sound as the ringmaster gets on with the show.

The call "circus is on" starts the parade around the outside ring of all the performers and animals from the circus. From the elephants to the miniature dogs, the trapeze artists and the tightrope walkers, they all march along the perimeter of the three rings as the audience cheers them on.

The circus band plays continuously and gives the circus performers their cues. The music keeps up the feeling of excitement and pride in showmanship that is as old and traditional as the circus.

Everyone's favorite circus performers are the clowns. Clowns serve as comic relief between the tense performances of the aerialists, acrobats, equestrians, and trained performers.
