Mardi Gras Shin-Dig at Happy Village
Valentine's Day may have some sparks, but Holler plans to set off some real fireworks on Mardi Gras weekend. Holler and the Happy Village are pleased to bring you yet another fun filled evening of fine entertainment on February 9th suggested donation is $10 at the door. For your listening pleasure, we'll have Bones Maki and the Sun Dodgers making the long trek from Detroit, Michigan just to play for all of you! Craig Maki and Kenny Bruce, many will remember from the heyday of Big Barn Combo. This new project has the boys busy recording and playing all over the Midwest, so were very pleased they took time out of their busy schedules to come to the Windy City. Theyll also be playing some high profile gigs in the coming year, so be sure to be on the "cutting edge" so-to- speak and catch them while you can! Also playing that night is Nick Willet and a backing band. Nick never fails to please and I'm sure that this night will be no different. Rumor has it that Nick's been doing some recording, so hopefully someday soon hell have something for us all to take home with us.

Holler 2002 Pin-Up Calendars
Speaking of that, now you CAN take us with you! The Holler 2002 Pin-Up Calendars are now available! The calendars start with February 2002 and go through January 2003, so you haven't missed a thing yet! We've already sold half of the initial printing of them and they are going fast. There are over 36 different vintage styled pin-up photos of Chicago gals. Orders can be placed through e-mail to: [email protected] . Checks can be made payable to Susan Funk and the pricing is $8 for one, and $15 for two calendars. There's an ad in this issue showing you a sneak peak of the cover and back page. Don't worry, there still lots of photos in the calendar that we didn't include... we want to save you something as a surprise! To buy one in person, pick one up at Big C Jamboree at Martyr's on Feb 7, at Mardi Gras at Happy Village on Feb 9, at Country Music Holiday at Happy Village on Feb 17 or from Barb Clifford at her dance classes at Happy Village on Mondays (check with us first so she has them on hand). Thanks everyone! Especially the models, photographers, and everyone that has supported HOLLER through the years!

Out,Out Damned Spot!
I've always wanted to quote from that "Scottish Play". Anyway, what's a gal or a guy to do when they get a spot on their 40's silk Hawaiian sarong dress or 50's flame stitched gabardine Hollywood jacket? Well, thanks to another forward from Anne Funk (THX MOM!), we can attack those very blights on our vintage clothing. The site, www.fabriclink.com/holidaystain.html, lists out the top 21 Holiday stains (also everyday stains like spilled drinks) and then lets you know how to handle them. I have another site that you can visit with information about fabric content and care, www.fabrics.net. Finally, after doing some investigating on my own, I found a bunch of other sites that give tips on spot and stain removal but I think some of these may be consolidated soon into a separate article here in Holler so stay tuned. In the meantime, here's one more site to check http://www.chemistry.co.nz/stain.htm.

Easter Bunny Hop
Another fine show on the horizon from Holler and the Happy Village - Charlie Thompson and the Emeralds are "hopping" the Big Pond to come to the states from overseas. Randy Rich, whom many in Chicago may know from All Hat No Cattle (with Remi and Rod), has managed to lure his buddies from the UK here to play a gig on Saturday, March 23rd. The band is coming to town in March to play throughout the US and in Vegas. So, if you aren't making the trip to Vegas this time, don't miss out on this opportunity to see them play. They might not be back for some time afterwards, so make sure you're there! Also playing that night, is Sun Recording artist (also Elviss Cousin), special guest, Glenn Honeycutt. Again, you can't miss out on seeing the original artists while they are still able to make the rounds. Support the artists that have created such fabulous music and left us so much history to enjoy!
