The His Name is Jesus Ministries International (HNJMI) is a very young independent Reformed Church located in Metro Manila, Philippines. The church was established in May of 1983 embracing Pentecostal-Charismatic teaching (Arminian) and in May of 2004 they renounced Arminian teachings due to a "Reformation" experience. They now hold to and embrace the historic doctrines of the Protestant Reformation of the 16th Century, as embodied in the Reformed Doctrines of the Three Forms of Unity namely: The Belgic Confession, The Heidelberg Catechism, and The Canons of Dordt.
For almost four decades, the Bishop Leovino A. Trinidad, was disconcerted about the Pentecostal full-gospel church teachings that brought many questions before him such as: “Why accept the Lord Jesus Christ when the Bible says that whosoever believes on the Lord Jesus Christ will have eternal life?” “In falling to sin why may our salvation be lost when the Bible says that Jesus Christ redeemed us from all of our sins and gave us life eternal? “Can a born-again man having an eternal life die again spiritually?” “Why are all people, who after hearing the Word of God through preaching, not transformed nor changed in the inner nature?” “Why are there so many diverse interpretations within the Protestant circles on God’s Election, Predestination, Pre- and Post-millennium presentations of the last things?” He found himself confused, longing and struggling that God would give him peace and rest by revealing to him the truth of the Gospel.”
In the year 2000, God in His mercy and grace began the work in their lives when his son, Pastor Leovino Trinidad, Jr. brought home printed documents on the authenticity and reliability of the King James (1611, or the Authorized Version) translation of the Bible and that other bible translations are all corrupted, adulterated and obscured the true meaning of the scripture passages.
In the last quarter of 2003, Pastor June Subior who was once a member of this church and who in early 2002, together with some other pastors, disaffiliated from a Pentecostal denomination embracing the heresy of Arminianism and afterwards establishing the Bastion of Truth Reformed Churches came in response to the invitation to assist them in the work of the church. There was still then hesitation on the part of Pastor Subior due to doctrinal differences that brought them into discussion and a deeper study of the Word of God regarding the free-will of man versus the Total Depravity of Man, common grace versus the purpose of Christ’s suffering, death on the cross and His resurrection from the dead. Through him, they have begun a systematic study on the Doctrines of Grace or TULIP, the Three Forms of Unity, literature of the Protestant Reformed Church of America and other materials.
The Good Lord continuously guides the whole church in its progress in His grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ through the materials given to them and translations of the Three Forms of Unity into the Filipino language by Pastor Ronnie Santos. These books and materials brought great blessings to the leaders and the church. The Reformed Dogmatics and the Systematic Outlines by Rev. Herman Hoeksema, the Regulative Worship and the Institutes of the Christian Religion by the reformer John Calvin brought reformation to their lives. They also acknowledged the websites of the Protestant Reformed Church of America and the Covenant Protestant Reformed Church of the Northern Ireland (Rev. Angus Stewart) and value their materials and written sermons which created a great impact in their lives.
