Aqeel Karim Dhedhi is a highly regarded member of the Karachi Stock Exchange
(now corporate) with over twenty-five years of mainstream experience of stockbroking.
He became a member of the KSE in 1986. Prior to this, he spent 13 years managing
his father’s brokerage business. He is a prominent broker and has been on
the board of the KSE in 1996, 1997, 1999 and 2000. Aqeel Karim Dhedhi is also
a member of the Lahore & Islamabad (now corporate) Stock Exchanges. His sizeable
presence on the KSE, LSE and ISE means that AKD Securities has countrywide
contacts, enabling it to provide unmatched services to clients, particularly
with regard to execution of orders.
In terms of his ability to deal in significant institutional size lots, Mr. Dhedhi is perhaps the market leader on KSE. This again enhances AKD Securities execution abilities. Executive Officer
Ali Ansari took over as the CEO of AKD Securities in March 2000. It is
Mr. Ansari’s vision to turn AKD from a leading broker to a leading financial
services firm conforming to the highest international standards with the securities
arm acting as a distribution hub and the other activities run independently
on an arms length basis raising and managing capital.
Prior to joining AKD Securities, Mr. Ansari held the position of Chief Operating Officer (Europe, Middle East & Africa - EMEA) of Credit Lyonnais Securities (CLS). Mr. Ansari was responsible for establishing brokerage operation, which involved development and implementation of business strategy, recruitment of personnel, establishment of operations and procedures. Mr. Ansari accomplished commencement of brokerage business within three months of initiation and played additional roles of EMEA equity strategist and in-house coach for the research team.
In the capacity of Special Projects Director, Mr. Ansari reviewed CLS research and how it should evolve with the changing needs of the client base. Mr. Ansari developed and deployed CLSA.NET, a fully functional intranet and extranet designed to deliver company and research information to staff and clients.
In 1997, Mr. Ansari carried out analysis of proposal and supervised drafting of the information memorandum for raising US$ 100 million for Kazakhstan Fund, Almaty.
As Chief Executive Officer & Head of Research – CLSA Pakistan, Mr. Ansari turned CLSA into one of the leading foreign institutional brokers from an unranked position. Mr. Ansari also acted as an advisor to the Government of Pakistan on United Bank Limited privatization in 1995.
While working as an Investment Manager at Worldinvest / Bank of America, Mr. Ansari managed all international equity portfolios which were over USD one billion of discretionary funds, presented investment strategy and performance attribution to trustees, fund sponsors and their consultants. Mr. Ansari achieved top quartile performance over a three-year period and as Head of UK equities was entrusted with sole responsibility for stock selection of UK stocks across all portfolios.
Mr. Ansari earned
BA (Hon.), Business Administration & Economics majoring in Finance, from Richmond
College in 1985 and received Investment Management Programme Certification
from London Business School in 1988.
