A
second-half brace from Sham Kwok Keung helped Hong Kong held
Uzbekistan to a 2-2 draw in the AFC Asian Cup 2007 qualifiers in
Tashkent last night. Anvarjon Soliev gave home side the lead on
18 minutes and Dynamo Kiev striker Maksim Shatskikh made it 2-0
on 35 minutes. However, substitute Sham Kwok-keung shocked the
Uzbeks when he pulling one back in the 66th minute before
leveling the score 3 minutes from full time. "Our defence made
mistakes in the first half but we changed our style of play
after the break and we were able to beat the Uzbekistan
goalkeeper twice." Hong Kong head coach Lai Sun-cheung said. The
draw put Hong Kong on four points and they meet Uzbekistan again
at the Hong Kong Stadium on Sep 6. In another match, Qatar
bagged 3 points as they thrashed Bangladesh 4-1. |

| Amaral
ink deal as South China coach

China shown ambitions to crown all competition in new season by
appointing Jorge Amaral as the new coach. Although it will be a
great challenge, the former Benfica and FC Porto player expressed
his expectation to re-build South China's dynasty in upcoming
season. Meanwhile, South China introduced assistant coach Joao
Festas and four new signing Andre Correia, Marco Almeida, Hugo
Coelho and Detinho in the press conference. Besides, South China
announced that they arranged four warm-up matches during a training
camp in Qingyuan, Guangdong Province next week. |

signs up for Kitchee

Cameroonian
striker Julius Akosah has joined League Cup champions Kitchee on a
one-year deal. Akosah
impressed with his performance in the AFC Cup,
which helped his former club Xiangxue Sun Hei advancing to the
quarterfinals this year. Aksoah has started training with Kitchee
last week. Meanwhile, Xiangxue Sun Hei has signed Northern Ireland
striker Roy Essandoh to replace Akosah. |

Rangers appointed Bredbury as new coach

Former
Hong Kong International Timothy Bredbury has been named as the new
coach of Rangers on a one-year deal. Hong Kong born Bredbury started
his career in English Premiership club Liverpool. He returned to
Hong Kong in 1983 and enjoyed a successful playing career as a
striker with Seiko, Rangers, South China and Instant-Dict. He also
scored 16 times in 38 appearances for Hong Kong team. "I am glad to
be selected and I look forward to the challenge." Bredbury said. "I
will ensure there is preparation and planning for Rangers." |

Wai-chiu was called up by Hong Kong team for the crucial Asian Cup
qualifier against Uzbekistan on Aug 16. However, the Shanghai
Shenhua defender suffered from a knee injury in a training session
and missed out two Chinese Super League matches. Ng Wai-chiu hopes
to be fit for the Hong Kong team's warm-up against Singapore on Aug
12. "The game against Uzbekistan is very important for us. I hope to
fully recover for Hong Kong team in the Asian Cup qualifiers." Ng
said. |

Rangers will play a friendly against English Premiership Club
Bolton at the Hong Kong Stadium on Aug 5. Buler Rangers
confirmed the friendly saying these will give their team crucial
experience ahead of new season. "Our players will learn a lot
from this match. I think this is a good preparation for new
season." said Buler Rangers coach Qiu Jingwei. |
