Zhiyi joins Buler Rangers

Fan Zhiyi became the most well-known players from the
mainland when Buler Rangers signed the former China national team
captain as player-coach yesterday. Fan played for English club
Crystal Palace, Cardiff City as well as Scottish Premier side Dundee
few years ago. He also participated 2002 World Cup finals for China.
Li Fai-lap, General Secretary of Buler Rangers expected that Fan's
experience will help the team to get better result and help the
development of young players in new season. |

Manchester United lifted ING Cup

Hong Kong
was beaten by Manchester United 2-0 in the ING Cup at the Hong Kong
stadium yesterday. In front of a crowd 34,000 spectators, Hong Kong defence was strong enough to resist the attack from the visitors in
the first half. In the 42 minute, Hong Kong could open the scoring
when veteran striker Au Wai-lun's explosive drive was just tip over
by Van der Sar. However, Giuseppe Rossi and Dong Fangzhuo's second
half goals helped Manchester United to kick off their Asia tour with
a victory. Earlier, Brazil's Fluminense edged Paris St. German 1-0 to
crown the Manchester United Premier Cup 2005 Champion.

| Tai Po
sunk by 'Samba' boys

Tai Po was defeated by Brazil's Fluminese 3-0 in the
first round of the Manchester United Premier Cup U-15 finals at the
Happy Valley Stadium yesterday. Fluminense
started brightly, pushing
from all sides but they
found the Tai Po defence was so good and wasted several
opportunities. The Brazilians changed their form after the restart
and scored a triple which reflected the different level of both sides.
Tai Po was the first Hong Kong youth team to participate the Premier
Cup finals.

named player of the year

Sun Hei
defender Cristiano Cordeiro was elected as the footballer of the
year for second time yesterday. However, Cordeiro have been
travelling abroad that did not attend the ceremony. Sun Hei captain
Lee Kin-wo praised Cordeiro's spirit and commitment throughout the
season. Meanwhile, Kitchee's Chan Ka-ki and Citizen's Tse Tak-him
was voted as the young players of the year.

Kitchee appointed Dejan as the new coach

second runners-up Kitchee will be looking to make a clean break
under new coach Dejan Antonic in new season. The Serbia-born Dejan
helped his nation to lift World Youth Championship in 1987 and
played for local club Instant-Dict few years ago. Kitchee fans
expected the new coach will bring new elements to the club and also
lead the team to make a new wave in domestic competition. Formerly
coach Lam Hing-lun will focus on the club's youth development in new
season. |

Kong's women advanced to last eight

Hong Kong advanced to quarter-finals of the Asian
Women Championship Qualifiers by trashing Maldives 4-0 in the last
Group C match yesterday. Yau Ka-wai grabbed a double while Kwong
Wing-yan and Ng Wing-kum also got on the scoresheet. Hong Kong's
women will clash with hosts Vietnam in the quarter-final on Sunday. |
