Hong Kong lifted Lion City Cup

Kong U16 team lifted the Lion City Cup by defeating Malaysia 1-0 in the
final yesterday. Tsang Kam-to scored the consolidation goal in the 36th
minute. The victory also gave Kong Kong to revenge the 2-1 lost to the
Malaysian side in the first round. Hong Kong youth team coach Tsang
Wai-chung praised his boys' performance and hope they can do better later.
Host Singapore and Brunei also took part in the tournament.----------------------------------------- Kitchee stun Juventus in Charity Cup (5-Jun-2005) Kitchee
stunned Italian Champions Juventus 7-5 on aggregate after penalty shootout
in the Grand Promenade Cup at the Hong Kong stadium yesterday. Juventus
scored twice through big names Del Piero and Pavel Nedved. It looked like
the Italian were on course to win but a brace from Keith Gumbs restored the
parity for Kitchee. Both sides were still a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes. In
the penalty shootout, Juventus' Alessandro Birindelli sent high while
Kitchee's kick were all on target. The victory shown Kitchee's capacity to
be the giants killer of Italian clubs, who also beaten AC Milian 2-1 last
year.

So Yiu Man, Yee Lok-wan, Wong Chin-hung and Sho Sheung-kwai scored for Hong Kong while Cho Il Nam and Oh Su Taek's goals reduced the deficit for the Korea Republic. Hei booked the ticket to the AFC Cup last eight after a 1-1 draw against
Tampines Rovers at the Mongkok Stadium yesterday. Sun Hei was the group
leader of Group D with 12 points while Tampines was a point behind. In
another match of the day, Happy Valley extended their disappointing
performance, who was trashed by Home United 5-0. They only got one point out
of six games.----------------------------------------- Sun Hei lift FA Cup (23-Apr-2005) Sun Hei won the grand slim of domestic competition after defeating Happy Valley 2-1 in the FA Cup final at the Hong Kong stadium yesterday. Happy Valley opened the scoring through Brazilian striker Oliveira in the 40th minute, but the all-important winner eluded them when Sun Hei's Akosah and Carlo Hartwig scored in the second half and extra time respectively. Julius Akosah's 83rd minute header not only helped Sun Hei to lifted the
league title again, but also dumped Fukien into the second division. In
another match of the day, Happy Valley held to a 3-3 draw by Kitchee. After
two key matches, Sun Hei accumulated 34 points, two more than arch-rivals
Happy Valley. However, Happy Valley will have a chance to revenge when they

Kong star Ng Wai-chiu played a key role in Shanghai Zhongbang's 1-0 victory
over Qingdao Zhongneng in the Chinese Super League yesterday. Ng scored
Zhongbang's only goal in the 43rd minute and his goal was the first Hong
Kong player's goal in the Chinese Super League. The win was sweet for
Zhongbang as they climbed up to ninth with nine points after bagging the

confirmed their visit of Hong Kong yesterday. The Italian giants will play
an exhibition match against Kitchee on June 4. "Hong Kong fans will have a

Hei lifted their second honor of the season after defeating rivals Happy
Valley 4-2 at Hong Kong Stadium yesterday. Sun Hei opened the scoring
through Cornelius Udebuluzor's superb strike in the 21st minute, following
by Carlo Hartwig's thundering free-kick in the 35th minute. Lo Chi-kwan
added the third in the 77th minute. Happy Valley woke up lately and produce
two quick-fire goals in the last 10 minutes of the match. However, Happy
Valley's 'keeper' Fan Chun-yip's poor clearance allowed Sun Hei striker
Julius Akosah to score into an empty net. Sun Hei lifted the Senior Shield.

Hei continued their reign at the top of Group D of AFC Cup with a 1-0 win
over Perak in Malaysia yesterday. Cameroonian striker Julius Akosah scored
the only goal in the 71st minute. In another match, Happy Valley played out
to a 1-1 draw against Malaysian Super League champions Pahang in Group E.
Kwok Yue-hung put Happy Valley ahead in the 44th min before Pahang levelled

After losing 3-2 on penalties to rivals Hainan, Hong Kong had to defeat Sichuan to secure a place for the playoffs. However, Hong Kong found the Sichuan defence was so good and wasted several opportunities. In the 79th minute, Sichuan got the only goal through Liu Yu's penalty. Hong Kong assistant coach Tsang Wai-chung satisfied with his players' performance. However, he also claimed that his side was lack of experience and need to learn and improve by playing more high-level competition. Games Men's football Preliminary Competition in Chengdu yesterday. Striker
Cheng Lai-hin and Kwok Kin-pong scored a hat trick for Hong Kong. Hong Kong
will next play Hainan in their second match tomorrow.----------------------------------------- Hong Kong leave for All China Games (23-Mar-2005) Hong Kong 08 team leave for Chengdu to participate the tenth All China Games Men's football tournament between Mar 23 to 31. Hong Kong was drawn into the Chengdu Group, which will face Hainan, Macau, Shandong and Sichuan. Hong Kong head coach Lai Sun-cheung have confident to bring Hong Kong youth team to the second round. Kong will host the 2005 Manchester United Premier Cup finals scheduled from

the finals automatically. The winner of Nike Youth League finalists HKFC and

Premier League giants Manchester United have revealed that they will be
playing ING Cup against Hong Kong team on July 23 as part of their
pre-season tour of East Asia. The 'Red Devils', who won eight English
Premiership titles in the past 12 seasons, is one of the best-supported
European club in Hong Kong. Hong Kong fans expected to have a close up view
of big names such as Ruud van Nistelrooy, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ryan Giggs

Kong's dreams of meeting Asian giants in the finals of the East Asian
Football Championship were shattered by DPR Korea, who beaten Hong Kong 2-0
in the final preliminary match in Taipei yesterday. Both sides had good
chances in the match. In the 16th minute, Law Chun-bong missed a great
chance to open the scoring for Hong Kong as his shot hit the crossbar. In
the 43rd minute, North Korea's Kang Jin Hyok headed home the opening goal.
They extended the advantage through striker Kim Yong Su in the second half.
In another match, host Chinese Taipei held Mongolia to a goalless draw to
secured the third place with goal difference advantage. Hong Kong's Fan

Hei had a good start in AFC Cup when they thrashed Club Valencia of Maldives
6-1 at the Mongkok Stadium yesterday. Sun Hei scored through Carlo Hartwig,
Lau Chi-keung, Chu Siu-ki, Poon Man-tik and Akosah's double. Krisztain got
the only goal for Club Valencia. In another match in the same day, Hong Kong
giants Happy Valley stunned by Maldives club New Radient 2-0 in Male. Boyko
Kamenov and Ibrahim Fazeel was scorers of New Radient. Sun Hei and Happy
Valley's international players then leave for Taipei to join Hong Kong team
soon, who will face host Chinese Taipei and DPR Korea in upcoming East Asian

Hong Kong defeated Mongolia 6-0 in the East Asian Championship Preliminary
Competition in Taipei yesterday. Hong Kong highlighted their attacking
strength in depth with goals from Chu Siu-kei, Law Chun-ping, Wong Chun-yue,
Lam Ka-wai and a Chan Yiu-lun's double. Hong Kong is currently sitting at
the second place with 3 points following Chinese Taipei, who trounced
inexperienced Guam 9-0 in the same day.----------------------------------------- Ten Hong Kong players missed East Asian Cup (4-Mar-2005) 25 registered but only 15 players can be used by Hong Kong coach Lai Sun-cheung when they face Mongolia in the opening match of East Asian Championship 2005 tomorrow. Eight Hong Kong international will play AFC Cup for Sun Hei and Happy Valley while Ng Wai-chiu was not released by Chinese Super League club Shanghai Zhongbang during this period. match. As a maximum 3 foreigners could be registered for each particiants,
Sun Hei's coach Koo Luen-khen selected Carlo Andre, Cordeiro Cristiano and
Akosah for upcoming AFC Cup matches. Macau International keeper Domingos
Chan was excluded in the list despite his high-rate performance this season.----------------------------------------- Shenhua wins the Hong Kong-Shanghai Cup (17-Feb-2005) Shanghai Shenhua edged Kitchee 1-0 in Mongkok stadium to win the Hong Kong-Shanghai Cup yesterday. Despite Shenhua dominating proceedings right from the kick-off, the match at one stage appeared to be heading for a draw. The match-winner came in the 66th minute when Sun Xiang broke through on left flank and crossed low for his brother Sun Ji to slot home. Kitchee changed in aggressive role but they played with ten men as midfielder Wilfed Bamnjo got his second yellow card in the last quarter of the game. Shanghai sealed the victory when the final whistle was blown.
