Hong Kong recovered from the defeat of Tajikistan and group favorites Japan after humiliating Iraq 6-2 in the AFC Futsal Championship 2006 in Tashkent yesterday. Kitchee's Liu Quankun bagged two, while Li Hang-wui, Leung Chi-kui, Cheung Kin-fung and Lo Kwan-yee were also on the scoresheet. After the victory, Hong Kong secured third place of Group B with 3 points.

Au Wai-lun elected as Footballer of the Year (20-May-2006)
South China striker Au Wai-lun was elected as the Footballer of the Year last night. The veteran striker, who also won the vote in 1997, topped the poll after outstanding performance in his club. Kitchee's Dejan Antonic was named Coach of the Year while Tse Tak-him and Cheung Kin-fung shared the Best Young Player award. "It has a very tough year for me. However, I'm very happy to have this honor." Au said. Sun Hei advance to AFC Cup quarter-finals (17-May-2006)
Hong Kong heavyweights Xiangxue Sun Hei advanced to the quarter-finals of AFC Cup after defeating Singapore's Home United 2-0 at the Bishan Stadium last night. Fladimir Freitas scored off the spot in the 22nd minute and Akosah extended the advantages in the 57th minute. After the win, Sun Hei finished top of group E with 13 points and were assured of their place in the quarter-finals. This is the second time Sun Hei qualified to the last eight of this competition.

Hong Kong U-23 team had a good start in preparing the Olympic Games Qualifiers after played out a 3-3 draw with PSV Eindhoven U-23 team in a friendly match at the HKFC stadium yesterday. Chan Wai-ho get Reading trial chance (10-May-2006)
According to a local media, Hong Kong International Chan Wai-ho will fly to England and trial with English League Championship club Reading FC in mid-June. Buler Rangers, Chan's current club has accepted his request if he decided to train at the Madejski side. "It's my dream to play for a big English club like Reading." Chan said. If Chan successfully joined Reading FC, he will be the second Hong Kong player to join an English club. The first player was Cheung Tsz-dau, who played for Blackpool FC between 1969-1971.

Tchakounte confirm QPR move (6-May-2006)
Former Buler Rangers and Kitchee midfielder Armel Tchakounte confirmed his move to English League Championship club Queen's Park Rangers after he trained at Loftus Road earlier. Akosah's hat-trick helps Sun Hei crush New Radiant (4-May-2006)
FA Cup Champions Xiangxue Sun Hei continued their winning streak in the AFC Cup by whipping Maldives's New Radiant 5-2 at the Mong Kok Stadium on Wednesday. Sun Hei were trailing when the visitors was awarded a penalty on 3 minutes but Lai Kai-cheuk's clever shot restored the parity a minute later. Fladimir Freitas made it 2-1 in the 31st minute. Prolific striker Akosah extended the advantages 4 minutes after the break before New Radiant clawed back into the game in the 56th minute through Cristian Nitta. South China was sent down to the second division (24-Apr-2006)
Struggling heavyweights South China ultimately relegate to the second division after drew with Citizen 1-1 at the Mong Kok Stadium yesterday. In front of 3,224 fans, South China started positively but Chen Qing and Au Wai-lun missed chances to go ahead early. It was the turning point of the game when young midfielder Leung Chun-pong gave Citizen the lead in the 17th minute. After that, South China played more aggressive and tried to chase the game. Kitchee won their second title of this season with a 3-0 thrashing of heavyweights Happy Valley in the senior shield final at the Mong Kok Stadium yesterday. Hong Kong U-17 team won the International Youth Football Invitation Tournament 2006 after finishing on top of the standings by drawing Chinese Taipei 1-1 at Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground yesterday. Kitchee stunned Italian Champions Juventus 7-5 on aggregate after penalty shootout in the Grand Promenade Cup at the Hong Kong stadium yesterday. Juventus scored twice through big names Del Piero and Pavel Nedved. It looked like the Italian were on course to win but a brace from Keith Gumbs restored the parity for Kitchee. Both sides were still a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes. In the penalty shootout, Juventus' Alessandro Birindelli sent high while Kitchee's kick were all on target. The victory shown Kitchee's capacity to be the giants killer of Italian clubs, who also beaten AC Milian 2-1 last year.
