Sun Hei drawn against Al Faisaly in AFC Cup
quarterfinals (2-Jun-2006)
Xiangxue Sun Hei were drawn against defending
champions Al Faisaly in the AFC Cup Quarter-finals. Sun Hei, who reached the
semifinals last year, powered their way to the top of Group E this time.
However, the Jordon League Champions in what could give a tricky match for
Sun Hei during the knockout stage. Sun Hei will play the first leg in Jordan
on Sep 12 and the return leg will be played on Sep 19.

Au Wai-lun elected as Footballer of the

China striker Au Wai-lun was elected as the Footballer of the Year last
night. The veteran striker, who also won the vote in 1997, topped the poll
after outstanding performance in his club. Kitchee's Dejan Antonic was named
Coach of the Year while Tse Tak-him and Cheung Kin-fung shared the Best
Young Player award. "It has a very tough year for me. However, I'm very

Kong heavyweights Xiangxue Sun Hei advanced to the quarter-finals of AFC Cup
after defeating Singapore's Home United 2-0 at the Bishan Stadium last
night. Fladimir Freitas scored off the spot in the 22nd minute and Akosah
extended the advantages in the 57th minute. After the win, Sun Hei finished
top of group E with 13 points and were assured of their place in the
quarter-finals. This is the second time Sun Hei qualified to the last eight

after played out a 3-3 draw with PSV Eindhoven U-23 team in a friendly match

Chan Wai-ho get Reading trial chance

to a local media, Hong Kong International Chan Wai-ho will fly to England
and trial with English League Championship club Reading FC in mid-June.
Buler Rangers, Chan's current club has accepted his request if he decided to
train at the Madejski side. "It's my dream to play for a big English club
like Reading." Chan said. If Chan successfully joined Reading FC, he will be
the second Hong Kong player to join an English club. The first player was
Cheung Tsz-dau, who played for Blackpool FC between 1969-1971.

Cup Champions Xiangxue Sun Hei continued their winning streak in the AFC Cup
by whipping Maldives's New Radiant 5-2 at the Mong Kok Stadium on Wednesday.
Sun Hei were trailing when the visitors was awarded a penalty on 3 minutes
but Lai Kai-cheuk's clever shot restored the parity a minute later. Fladimir
Freitas made it 2-1 in the 31st minute. Prolific striker Akosah extended the
advantages 4 minutes after the break before New Radiant clawed back into the
game in the 56th minute through Cristian Nitta. Akosah netted his brace in
the 59th minute and scored the match-winner for the hosts 3 minutes later.
The victory kept Sun Hei atop the Group E standings with 10 points. They
will travel to Singapore to play Home United on May 16.

defeating Perlis 2-1 in Malaysia last night. The Hong Kong heavyweights

drew with Citizen 1-1 at the Mong Kok Stadium yesterday. In front of 3,224
fans, South China started positively but Chen Qing and Au Wai-lun missed
chances to go ahead early. It was the turning point of the game when young
midfielder Leung Chun-pong gave Citizen the lead in the 17th minute. After
