> First Scout Camp - Brown Sea Island |
|
He
got together a mixed company of twenty boys and took them up to Brown Sea Island in
English Channel. The rule of the Camp was the Scout Law. The boys worked under their own
leaders in groups of five. It was held from 29th July to 9th August 1907. They cooked,
tracked and learned wood craft and nature study under discipline based on trust and honor.
This was an experimental camp which turned out to be most successful. |
|
B.P.
wrote his experiences of this camp ass "Scouting for Boys" in the News Bulletin.
Boys in the country purchased the serial publication and started their own troops of Boy
Scouts in every corner of Great Britain. Thus the Boy Scout movement started. |
|
On
January 8 1941 , B.P.'s great heart stopped forever at Nyeri in Kenya where he spent about
his last three years in perfect peace and happiness. |
|
Now
all the countries in the world have scout movement running successfully. |
