I grew up in Toronto (or, according to our neighboring city Vaughn, "Where The Whores Grow") with quirky parents, one of whom is a handsome, charismatic asian man and the other is a compelling blend of white trash and nouveau-riche businesswoman. If it sounds complicated, that's because it is.
I peacefully grew up until I reached teenagehood, which brought on the hormones and the slayer powers. The latter of which I'm dealing with just fine, but I'd appreciate some leather bras that didn't chaff.
In terms of my place as a reviewer on this board, I'm more like a cross between Mark and Glenn. I can appreciate lowest-common-denominator movie trash the way Mark can, and I can also snob it up with the best of them, like Glenn can. Incidentally, trashing Glenn and his "straight" "friend" Simon has become a worthy pasttime of mine.
I love all sorts of films, from "Clueless" to "Akira", "Resident Evil" to "Requiem for a Dream". I also enjoy many other non-film things, such as pointing out flaws, little children with british accents, petty theft, very good hair, iced coffee, sunflower seeds, Japanese culture, 'kthxbye' and all of its variants, occasionally typing in capital letters to get my point across, lazy autumn days, Livejournal, the non-descriminating EBHFB, and dirty lovin'.
However, being (almost) human, I have my dislikes as well. They include, but are not limited to: expired antibiotics, washing dishes, job interviews, hairbands on babies who have no hair, mushy apples, the majority of Buffy Season Six, ugly nudists, not making any money, the cancellation of Futurama and Firefly, the renewal of Tru Calling, and parents who just don't understand.
