Penalties for Violation of the Rules: Verbal Warning The lowest form of punishment, ranking guild members may warn others that their actions are in violation of the rules, and that further action will be neccesary should the action continue. Hearts of at least Defender rank (5) may choose this option. Demerit Used for direct rules violations that are not serious in nature, demerits are added to a character's record for a period of 30 days or until the character completes a quest to clear his name. So long as the demerit remains on the character's record he is not able to access guild funds, nor can he advance in title or gain awards. This is the most common form of punishment within the guild. Any officer may award demerits. Censure Characters who recieve censure will have a note permanently attached to their guild file. Multiple censures can interfere with advancing through guild ranks or result in higher punishments for future violations. Only Lords of the Circle or the High Lord may censure a character. Demotion Characters who seriously violate guild rules may be demoted in class rank or titles. Only Lords of the Circle or the High Lord may demote a character. Exile Exile is a temporary suspension from guild privileges and membership. The term of this suspension varies based on the level of the violation. Only the Lord Inquisitor or High Lord can exile a character. Ban Reserved for the most serious offenses, when a player is banned all of his characters are removed from the guild and their records deleted. No characters from this player are eligible for membership in the future. Only the High Lord can ban a player. Other Depending on the nature of the offense, the High Lord may decide that other forms of punishment are appropriate, such as fines and exile quests. |

| Guild Rules The rules of theHearts of Valor are simple and designed to foster the feelings of companionship that we as a group strive for. Every member that requests entry into the guild must do so through a sponsor. This sponsor will be responsible for the actions of a petitioner and should be sure of the petitioners character before inviting them to join. If no other members have a legitimate complaint the petitioner will be welcomed as a probationary member ("initiate") until he/she has proven themselves. We are members of a family that must rely on one another at all times to help fight the tide of injustice that is sweeping our land. As such we must always make our skills available to our brothers in need. If you are nearby when a guild member makes a request, and you are available to help, you are expected to do so. Help each other and those in need at all times. If a guild member or a newer, less practiced member of our world community makes a reasonable request then help them. It takes only a few moments to provide information which could be invaluable to a low-level person, and such displays heighten everyone's enjoyment. Do not bother others with requests for equipment, money, or power-leveling. Aid will be available for our brethren in need, but it is earned through respect and time. Donations will be accepted through the guild officers as you can make them. These donations are not required, but will be passed down to newbies who have been shown to follow those tenants that we believe in, thus insuring new generation of our guild to prosper. Have fun. That's what this is all about. Enjoy yourselves and help others to do so as well. Roleplaying Specific Rules Guild messages and private tells are considered to be Out of Character unless otherwise indicated. All other messaging must be done in character or with an OOC tag to be eligible for roleplaying awards. Do not use other guild members in your character plots without their permission. Stories or plot-lines must be presented on the guild forums to be eligible for roleplaying rewards. Recruitment Policies You are responsible for the actions of people you invite to the guild until they reach rank the rank of Adept. New recruits do not begin accruing awards until they register on the website. Sponsors will not be credited for new recruits until the Initiate becomes an Adept. Initiates will be promoted to Adepts once they 3 guild ranking points unless a complaint has been filed against them by another Heart of Adept rank or higher. Alternate characters are inducted with a guild rank one lower than the player's primary character. Procedures for Reporting a Violation Should a member of the Hearts violate any of these rules, or act in an otherwise inappropriate manner, please contact the highest ranking member of the guild as soon as possible. If no member of Keeper of the Heart (rank 3) or higher status is available, email complaints to the guild master at [email protected]. Please be sure to state the nature of the offense, the people involved or wittnessing the events, and any proof that you may have available. Screenshots of inappropriate text have proven very useful in the past. Should a complaint be recieved it will be dealt with as soon as possible, and punishments (if deemed neccesary) will be assigned based of the severity of the violation. See the side panel to the right for further information on disciplinary measures. Procedure for Protesting a Decision Characters who feel that they have been mistreated, judged unfairly, or punished too harshly may appeal the descision with either the Lord Inquisitor or the guild master. To do so, send an email stating your case to [email protected]. Include in proof that you may have, the names of any involved parties, and the date and time of the incedent. Also include in this email whether you would prefer an appeal by trial or an appeal by judgement. These matters will be investigated with all available haste, and a trial or hearing date will be set as soon as possible. Appeal by Judgement Players requesting an appeal by judgement place their fate in the hands of the Lord Inquisitor or High Lord. In these cases all involved parties state their side of the issue, generally via email, followed by a few questions from the presiding judge. Once the judge is satisfied that a decision can be made he will do so as fairly and impartially as possible. This is generally the fastest way to seek judgement, but it rests the fate of the character in the hands of a single person. Appeal by Trial Characters accused of an offense may also request an appeal by trial. Once this is done, a trial will be held at the next guild meeting. If no meeting is scheduled within a reasonable time frame, one will be called to conduct the trial. At this trial each side will be allowed to present their case before the assembled guild, and a vote will be taken among all members to decide proper punishment. The draw-back to this form of appeal is the length of time neccesary to schedule a guild meeting. |
