My Triumph Spitfire "1500"
The roll-over accident was the best thing that had ever happened to the "Wee Beastie".  While the body shop cleaned up the dents and welded on a new windscreen frame, I stripped the interior out and got to work.  The dash was stripped of varnish and the laminations reglued.  Then it was sanded and stained and sealed with a few coats of polyurethane. Some new parts - dash cover, sunvisors, a brown carpet set, a left hand mirror, a front air dam and a roll bar - were purchased and installed.  The door glass and the vinyl door top "caps" were replaced. A used boot cover and a used map light were located. The bumper covers were refinished. The wheels were sandblasted and painted silver, new tires were mounted and chrome trim rings were added to the wheels.  I used the black wheel centers instead of the silver ones I have because I like the look.  Black bonnet and boot lid decals were purchased and applied.  Silver would be the proper color for the decals with this color of paint, but I like the red and black color scheme. The old soft top could still be used, but a used frame was rebuilt, repainted and installed.  A black "Autopower" roll bar was installed.
For the engine, a Weber "DGV" carburetor and Pierce manifold were installed, and later replaced by a set of Dellorto DHLA40 side draft carburetors - see the "Dellortos" page for more informatin.  A new Pertronix ignition system is being used - and is a product I highly recommend. I added a Pacesster Header and Monza exhaaust system shortly after these photos were taken. I lived with the Monza for less than a year.  See the "Headers" page for more information.
There were still a few other trim items that needed to be finished up, but these photos show the nearly completed car at that time.  Other changes came later - Hayashi Racing Wheels, a PRI air dam, custom seats, and a custom roll bar have been installed over the years.  The BURB's (big ugly rubber bumpers) have disappeared too, replaced with plain old steel bumpers painted satin black to stay with the color scheme.
