Beginning the Journey
is one of the few diversity education programs that is licensed by New Light Media to present the documentary "Journey To A Hate Free Millennium."  Promotional materials for the film say the following:

" 'Journey To A Hate Free Millennium' is the inspiring documentary that seeks solutions to the horrible hate crimes that have now become current events in our daily lives.

"This stirring film features examples straight from today's headlines:  the vicious murder of Matthew Shepard in Wyoming; the horrendous dragging death of James Byrd, Jr. in Texas; and the unfathomable shootings by high school students at Columbine High School in Colorado.  Sharing their thoughts in this film through exclusive interviews include Judy and Dennis Shepard, the James Byrd, Jr. Family, Darrell Scott (father of slain Columbine High School student Rachel Scott), reformed neo-Nazi T.J. Leyden, as well as students, teachers, celebrities, and others moved by these timely events.

"This film not only asks the question why, but it begs to find answers and to encourage dialogue and action to put a stop to these senseless acts of violence and hate.  "Journey To A Hate Free Millennium" is a film of hope and inspiration."  (New Light Media)

In addition to viewing the documentary, workshop participants with actively be involved in exercises and discussions on the topics of hate versus acceptance and will hear a
Beginning the Journey speaker address the effects of intolerance and the necessity for understanding in our nation.  Presentations can be set up as a one time assembly, a multiple day workshop, or a continuing program in your school, place of work, church, or other civic group.  Please feel free to contact Beginning the Journey and inquire about our material.
