1.  To educate participants on the nature and consequences of hatred in contemporary society.

2.  To initiate constructive dialogue among participants about how they may live their lives as part of the problem or part of the solution to hatred and violence in our society.

3.  To encourage participants to honestly assess their daily thoughts and behaviors and find alternatives to those thoughts and behaviors that enable apathy toward hatred or even foster hatred and violence.

4.  To motivate participants to give up their intolerance of people who are different from themselves and, instead, to embrace a philosophy of compassion in which the only acceptable form of intolerance is intolerance of hatred and violence.
"Journey to a Hate Free Millennium" Documentary Program
Objectives and Outcomes
Both youth and adult participants in the "Journey to a Hate Free Millennium" experience will have an improved understanding of the cognitive, emotional, and societal forces which enable hatred of one person/group by another.  Participants also will appreciate the very real, sometimes deadly consequences of unchecked hatred in contemporary American society.  Finally, participants who engage fully in the pre/post-viewing activities will develop a more accurate understanding of the ways society's tolerance of hatred and violence have shaped their own patterns of thought and behavior.
