| Dear Website Visitor: Thank you for your interest in our organization! Beginning the Journey Presentations is an educational organization that works with schools, businesses, and civic groups to expose the effects of hate and to cultivate an understanding and appreciation for human diversity. We�ve presented to organizations around Michigan and Ohio, and we�re only a year old! Beginning the Journey is volunteer run, and we continue to expand our program. Our presentations have always received positive feedback, and we are scheduling more and more presentations as people hear about us. Our interactive, educational workshops and presentations are designed to help participants begin to grasp the painful and destructive effects of hate and violence and experience the emotions one may feel as a member of a minority group. We all have had experiences where we have felt like the �outsider.� We help people realize that we can be united because of our diversity. It is essential that our workshops act as a catalyst to begin dialogue. The presentations rely on open-ended questions and interactive learning experiences designed to stimulate thought about the nature and consequences of hatred, prejudice, and discrimination. Our workshops also provide participants with tools they may choose to employ in their own lives to affect personal, institutional, and societal change. We attempt to act as a clearinghouse for additional information, and it is our goal that we will be just one step in an agency�s exploration of diversity. When we leave an organization, we want to put the resources in their hands to take further steps to address the needs of the members in their organizations. Beginning the Journey Presentations is not just about making someone �feel all emotional,� but we also challenge participants to take action for change and inspire them to set out upon a journey toward a world defined by compassion, peace, and hope. We are working to make schools safe, businesses more productive, and civic groups more understanding. Our office is located in Clare County -- a very unique and beautiful place in central Michigan. The city of Harrison is approximately two hours north of Lansing, Michigan. You can find us in near the towns of Mount Pleasant and Clare, off of M-127. Beginning the Journey Presentations, being a volunteer run organization, with a budget that goes mostly to support the actual presentations, does not work out of an office that accommodates many visitors. Most of our business is done online, on the phone, or through the mail. Our presentations are given at the facilities secured by the client. If an in person meeting is required, arrangements can be made. Again, thank you for you interest in our work.
