| What is Beginning the Journey? Our Former President, Bill Clinton once said, "Isn't it interesting to you that we are on the eve of a new century and a new millennium which would be largely characterized by globalization, the explosion of new technology especially in information, and the integration of people, and the number one security threat to that is the persistence of old, even primitive hatreds." Beginning the Journey recognizes the need to educate people about the effects of hate. If we are to journey into tomorrow, we must set aside the things that would cause our nation and world to stumble into chaos. As a world made up of many different kinds of people, we must learn to cooperate and appreciate our many differences. Intolerance and hatred cannot continue to tear us apart. |

| Beginning the Journey Vision Statement: Beginning the Journey envisions a world where individuals in the business, educational, and civic realms have moved beyond uninformed biases that cause division and conflict, and instead celebrate diversity and accept all members of humankind in a community free of violence and discrimination. Our organization shall continue to lead participants toward this kind of hate-free community. Beginning the Journey Mission Statement: Realizing the damaging effects of hate and discrimination on society, Beginning the Journey seeks to assist places of employment, schools, and civic groups in training their members through educational workshops and presentations in order to cultivate an understanding and appreciation for human diversity in all its forms. |
