| Presentation Well Received at Women's Aid Service's Homelessness Summit |
| On Wednesday, May 15, Nicholas Linindoll, Beginning the Journey Founder, Program Director, and Speaker presented to a Homelessness Meet the Providers Summit for Isabella County Womens Aid Services. The Summit was attended by 25-30 service providers from Mount Pleasant, Michigan, and surrounding areas. Our presentation focused on the diversity of the homeless population, the stereotypes we often attach to the homeless, and the responsibility of service providers to see beyond these biases in order to effectively assist those in need. Summarizing a key theme to the presentation, Nicholas urged service providers to recognize that homeless people are not your stereotypes. They are more than your statistics. Even saying that they a members of society like anyone else is minimizing their person. In actuality, they are divine creations, just as you are. We have the potential and incredible responsibility to connect with and make a difference in peoples lives. Beginning the Journey was able to custom tailor a presentation to meet the needs of the host agency. Reworking many of our standard presentation tools to fit the audience proved to be a huge success, and our message was well received. Roni Perez, Community Resource Director of EightCap Inc., said the following of the presentation: Thank you for the wonderful talk you gave us at our Agency Summit. What you said hit home to all of us seasoned workers. Sometimes I get so burned out I tend to forget what some people go through. Thank you for reminding me again that God has put everyone here on earth for a reason and it is our job to help each other. Beginning the Journey would like to thank Jo Wilson of Womens Aid Services for making this presentation possible.
