The language used in Venice is that of Standard Italian which descends from the Tuscan Dialect which also descends from Latin. However when Italy was first unified only 3% of the population spoke that language, most of the other cities spoke Romance languages however soon Italy became accustomed to the standard Italian . Other languages are also used for different circumstances, such as the Napolitano for any folk songs. However the language mainly used in Venice is Standard Italian.
