| Birth Story As far as c-sections go, his birth was a straightforward easy c-section, we were called 2 days before his scheduled c-section to see if we wanted to come in early... which of course we jumped at, he was first scheduled for the 22nd, which meant I probably wouldnt get home in time for christmas, but the 21st, just one day made a huge difference. We turned up very early on the 21st and were first told we probably wouldnt have him until after lunch or even early evening, but in the end we were 2nd in, I was prepped and we were on the move by 11 am! They gave me a spinal and epidural (being my 5th c-section and Quins the 4th) being so bad I also had 2 IVs put in, one in each hand, just in case!! but they neednt have bothered, it all went so smoothly! I had decided not to be steralised, but when the surgeon told me how bad the scarring was, and how my uterus had adhered to my bladder and my uterus had holes in it after being seperated from my bladder I decided a 6th pregnancy wouldnt be a good idea. and so, I asked to be steralised there and then in the operating room, they said they dont usually do that, but under the circumstances they agreed it would be easier than me coming back. Nathaniel was born, and had difficulties breathing, so had extra oxygen for a while then was popped into the incubator, but once we were out of the operating room he was placed with me and he no longer needed the extra help... and hasnt had any problems since.. He latched on wonderfully and so far appears to be the most laid back, relaxed and easy going baby of them all.. sleeping 4-5 hourly at night and sleeping through Quins 2 year old headbanging tantrums!! (and hes only 1 week old as I write this!!) Nathaniel has slipped easily into our family and I wouldnt change a thing... I have a beautiful healthy family of 7 and I wouldnt change a thing! He does seem small compared to my others, but at least he fits his newborn clothes (well should fit into them soon!!) |
