The Stone Hearted Lass

Everyone called her what they perceived her as

They called her the “Stone Hearted Lass”

But no one felt the hollow where her heart should belong

Nor anyone heard her anguish- a silent woeful song.

Vulnerable to the cruelties of the world as a new born kitten

Forever shy she’d become though only once bitten

A single betrayal by a close friend was all it had taken

All her confidence, trust, faith- everything had shaken.

A recluse- that was what she has become

She could be without her fear only with some

The stone is not in her heart but in your eyes

And it blinds you into making judgments so unwise!
