| 2/26 Heritage Teams Win Opening Games of Maryland Christian Schools Tournament. Live To Play At Least One More Game! Its not over till its over! Both Heritage basketball teams were the HOSTS in the MCST games on Tuesday night and the visiting teams were SERVED! The girls won a 57-29 game over Calvary Temple on the backs of a team effort. Four girls scored in double figures for the Lady Eagles as Bri Dorsey led the way with 13. Rebecca Clarke and Morgan McIntire both netted 12, Caroline Clark cleaned up underneath with 11, and Andrea Clark chipped in with 7. The most balanced scoring attack of the year for these girls and they were rewarded with a big win. This game was a no-doubter from the get go as Heritage jumped out to a big lead early and cruised from there. 17-5 was the first quarter score and Heritage stretched that lead to 19 points by the half. The defense was stellar in the win as Calvary was forced to take long jump shots and got nothing inside. Calvary Temple scored 15 of their 29 beyond the arc on their way to a second round loss for them. The Heritage girls will look to keep the ball rolling on Friday as they play CHEN in the semi-finals at 7:45 at Washington Bible College. The boys however had a much more intense game. As Washington Christian filed into the gym and began their warm-ups, I believe many Heritage fans and players outlook on the night went down hill. They were bigger and seemed to look much more organized during pre game. Just about every shot prior to the game went in for them. There were doubters, for sure! But as the game began, the team that had proved all the doubters wrong all year, started to do it all over again. Think of this... the Heritage Academy boys this year posted their best record in how long??? They have won 14 straight (now 15), their two losses... one was by 2 and one was by 3 points. They have already won two big tournaments, and the list continues. Now to the game! Slippery start to say the least! Heritage could have put these guys away, right away. However, they let ball after ball slip though their hands (and roll off the rim). Turnovers and missed lay-ups were plentiful in the early going for HA as the score was only 2-2 after about three minutes of the 1st quarter. Then HA fans, players, and coaches started to exhale! Hamilton Stamper and Crew went on a tear, showing us all how good they really can play. The score was 31-17 in favor of the hosts at the half and those boys never looked back. Hamilton Stamper had a game high 26 points, 15 rebounds, and 6 blocks on the way to a physical 61-44 win. Stven Bathalow was bothered by an ankle problem, but do you think that would stop him from slashing to the hoop to net 21 points? NO! Cody Butts added 8 as the Heritage Boys chalked up their 15th straight win! Heritage is now 23-2 and will face a very formitable opponent in the semi-finals on Thursday. They will play Annapolis Area Christian School. AACS just beat Broadfording on Tuesday 69-51 to move on in the tourny. The game between Heritage and AACS will be played at 7:45 at Anne Arrundal Community College on Thursday. ***Click the link above for a Game Recap of Broadfording and AACS.*** |

| 2/28 Heritage Boys Advance to Maryland Christian Schools Tournament Final... Bounce Annapolis Area Christian 61-44 "A very well played game" Those were the words from coaches and fans alike on Thurday night as the Heritage Boys continued their winning ways! They all looked sharp tonight, from top to bottom. All the wheels were turning as a well oiled Heritage team beat a very good program in AACS. Other schools may be much bigger in number but I believe that this year, this group of boys are just better (than those other programs). Heritage won its 16th straight game and will look to put a fancy bow on this present of a season in the finale on Saterday night at 7pm (at Washington Bible College). The first quarter kept the blood pumping a little faster in the Heritage fans as it was very tight one. Heritage only held a 15-14 advantage after one, but things were about to change. AACS scored only 4 points in the second and took an 11 point deficit into the locker room at the half. The third quarter was one of runs. After Heritage scored the first 7 points of the third, AACS came back and ran away with 8 of their own to cut the lead to 10. That was as close as they got the rest of the way home as Heritage finished with a 13 point victory in a 61-48 game. Hamilton Stamper could not be stopped again as he was fed the ball time after time and converted in a game high 24 point fashion. Steven Bathalow had so many jaw dropping layups that we lost count. He (Steven) did slash his way to the hoop for 21. Point guard Cody Butts was very impressive as he and his team broke the constant pressure that never really worked. Cody finished with 10 well deserved points and 4 assists. One more game in this epic season for the Heritage Boys! Can they finish what they have started? I think they have it in them! Come watch and find out on Saterday! | ||||||||||||||||
| 2/29 Lady Eagles "Leap" Over CHEN To Reach Finals Of The MCST The Heritage girls used leap day to their advantage tonight as they bounced over CHEN in the semi-finals of the Maryland Christian Schools Div II Tournmant 51-30. The Eagles started off slow and sloppy in a tight first quarter. CHEN actually led the game 5-4 with a minute left in the first frame, but that lead quickly evaporated. Heritage dried out CHENS offense with their full court press as they flattened CHEN in the second quarter 18-4 and took a 16 point lead into halftime. The Lady Eagles also won the third quarter en route to a 21 point blow-out. Morgan McIntire got rolling in the second quarter and finished with a game high 26 points. Bri Dorsey scored 12 in the win along with countless steals. The girls improved to 21-7 on the year and will play for all the marbles Saterday at 1:00pm in the championship. | 4/2 Heritage Baseball??? Yes Sir... Boys win big.... Stomp CVCS 12-2! Heritage Academy is not known for its baseball team but this season may get the ball rolling! After Mondays game with Shalom was suspended in the 6th inning knoted up at 3-3, CVCS traveled to Hagerstown to face the new look Eagles team. Starting center for the Basketball team is now the starting pitcher for the baseball team... and he didnt loose a beat! Hamilton Stamper pitched a stellar game as he struck out nine batters in 5 innings and also helped his cause with a two-run home-run in the 4th inning on the way to an impressive 12-2 win over CVCS. The Barthalow brothers were big as well! Steven hit a 328 foot double off the top of the center field wall in the 3rd, just missing a home-run. Travis had a couple of big hits to drive in runs for the Eagles. 8th Grader Mark Taggert also got some of the bugs out as he came through with a 2-RBI single, adding to the cause. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for the baseball program at Heritage! Way to go Coach Lowry and Eagles Baseball team! Keep up the good work! | ||||||||||||||||
