11/20 and 11/21 Lady Eagles split games in opening tourny. The annual Lions Classic tipped off this week with the Lady Eagles flying low to start! Heritage just couldnt get into the flow of things on Monday night as they fell to a very good Goretti Team 45 to 23. Bri Dorsey had a team high 8 points in the opening loss. Tuesday was a different story as the Eagles took on cross town rival Grace Academy and found what they were looking for on Monday... a win. Heritage won the consolation match 42 to 32 as they stepped up on both ends of the floor to capture the win. Andrea Clark was impressive in the win as she had a team high 11 points. Both McIntire and Dorsey added 9 for the Lady Eagles. They will take a win against a conference foe into their season home opener on Thursday 11/29 against Broadfording.

11/27 Junior High teams open with wins The Heritage Academy JH boys and girls opened thier seasons with wins on Tuesday night. The girls were led by a very balanced attack as they leveled Adams County Christian 49 to 3. Callie Butts led all scorers with 18 points. Dominique Forsman was big on the boards with 12 as she also added 8 points for an impressive night. Kathleen Kidd made the wheels turn as she dished out 7 assists and had 6 steals. All fifteen girls saw action as they crusied to the easy win. The JH boys pulled out a sloppy 29 to 21 victory, but it was an opening win nonetheless. The boys shot a miserable 1 for 17 from the free throw line and missed many opportunities under the basket that could have put the Adams County boys away early. But stellar play in the first and last quarters proved to be enough for the win. Heritage opened the game on an 11-0 run only to be tied at 13 going into the half. The bench saw some valuable playing time, and held the fort rather well, while the starters were left to regroup on the sideline. The Eagles kicked things into gear and pulled away in the final period for the win. Bryce "Boyd" was big in the game and down low as he posted a game high 9 boards. Boyd also added 8 points. Robbie Martin put 9 points down and point guard Chad Lowry led the team with 4 assists and 4 steals in the win. The boys will face Broadfording at home on Thursday at 4:30 to open conference play.

11/29 Heritage Opens MDCC Play 2 and 1 On Thursday night Broadfording Christian made the trek accross town to face Heritage in the MDCC openers for both teams. The Eagles took two of three from the Lions. The night started with the defending Junior High boys champs (Broadfording) facing a Heritage team that looks to have a lot to prove this year. The JH boys were determined to show Broadfording that they will be the team to beat this season as Heritage rolled to a 35-14 win to move to 2 and 0 on the season. They didnt slack off and they shot much better than in their opener. Seven of nine players scored and they all fought hard for four quarters in the win. This group of boys want to win and they definately have the talent to do it! Chad Lowry dished out 6 assists to several players. Mark Taggert was huge in the game scoring 7 and pulling down 10 boards. Boyd and Martin both had a team high 8 points in the win. Click Here for Varsity Reacps from the Herald Mail

12/4 Some Eagles Blaze... Others Get Blazed Mixed results was the story from Pa. on Tuesday night as the CVCS Blazers hosted the Heritage Eagles. Opening the four game night was the JH girls. Heritage was up against a team that had just shut out Faith Christian on Friday night, but the CVCS Junior High girls had the tables turned on them as Heritage rolled to a convincing 39 to 10 victory. Dominique Forsman was off to a fast start as she paced the Eagles with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Jessica Gaylor ended just short of a double-double with 12 points and 9 boards. Kathleen Kidd again was good with the ball as she posted 4 assists and had 4 steals. The JH girls are now 2-0. The Junior High boys for Heritage found out that wins will not always come so easy, as they lost 32 to 17 and fell to a 2-1 record. Mark Taggert had a team high with 8 points and 9 rebounds and yet he only played the first half of the game. Down 5 at the half, Heritage was left without Taggert and back-up big man Ben Cosner. Combine that with some great outside shooting for CVCS and foul trouble for the Eagles, and it makes for a miserable second half. Heritage will look for a redemption game next week against Faith. The Varsity Girls again played well despite only having 5 players available! Heritage hung with CVCS and their star Miranda Payne for a very long time. At the half, the game was tied at 13 but as the game unfolded the deep bench for CVCS proved to be too much to handle for the Lady Eagles. They fall to 1-3 but a promising future is ahead as they look to return some key players in the upcoming games. The Heritage Varsity Boys fought tooth and nail for their 61 to 46 victory as several of their players had to take some time on the bench due to painful injuries. Despite this, Heritage proved to be the better team on this night. Steven Barthalow scored a team high 20 points. Andrew Harrell seemed like he would never miss as he made his first 5 attempts from the field and finished with 17 points. Andrew Hendershot also stepped up big and sank 11 in the win. Heritage improved to 2-0 and will face Faith as well next week.

| 12/14 Heritage Completes a Clean Sweep of Faith and Calvary This week the Heritage basketball teams had six games between them and came out victorious in all six. On Monday night the Faith Christian Falcolns landed on the wrong nest and the Eagles gave them a quick exit. The Junior High girls did something almost unheard of in basketball and handed the Faith JH girls a shut-out on the way to a 42-0 victory. The JH boys for Heriatge cruised by a tough Falcoln team who had just beat CVCS last week. The JH boys for HA won 32-22. The Varsity Boys and Girls had no trouble at all as they both flew much higher in their respective wins 67-32 and 56-26. On Friday Calvary found that their long trek back home would not be a fun one as the Calvary Eagles were stomped by the Heritage Eagles 69-37 in the boys game and 60-27 in the girls match. Both the Varsity Boys and the Junior High Girls are still perfect on the season at 4-0. The Varsity Girls and the Junior High Boys improved to 3-3 and 3-1 respectively. The Varsity teams meet Newlife on Tuesday! | ||||||||||||||||||||||
