Dell - Computers of the 21st Century

There is so much that a hacker must know, most of it can't be but onto one page. I know it looks like a lot to learn, but you don't have to know everything. Just learn the bare minimum for now, but always push yourself to learn as much as possible. Don't be afraid to test things out on your own computer, you can always reinstall things you delete or mess up. Just use the links to find out more about each topic.

To become familiar with how most computers operate, one must learn as much as possible about operating systems (OS). The best way that I've found to do that is by learning a programming language such as Java, C++, or Perl. Web related languages such as HTML and JavaScript are also good sources of knowledge for the Internet. Basic is another good language to learn.

To be a good hacker, you must know every corner and every crevice in your computer as well as you victem's computer. To do this, you have to study operating systems, and how they are set up. In Windows, the most common place to find system files are in the C:\ drive. There are different versions of Windows out, so you could be learning Windows OS for nearly a year, before you even could get to the Mac OS. Linux is also a very good system overall, very good for the business aspect of the Web. Unix is another OS that is very imortant in todays world. If you don't know Unix, you'll never be able to become a mediocre hacker.

A Quick Note:

While your running Dos, the three most important commands will be telnet <hostname> [port number], cd <directory>, and deltree <directory>. While typing in these commands, ignore the < and >. They are there for easy understanding. You can find out more in the Unix and Windows sections.
