Dragon's Hoarde

November 20-21, 1999     Tucson, AZ
House Del la Roc invites all who read these words to join us for the annual Dragon's Hoarde Tournament to be held on November 20th and 21st at Himmel Park in the Barony of Tir Ysgithr. The event is a fund-raiser for the Barony, and moneys contributed will enable our incoming Baron & Baroness (Polling on Sunday) to begin their tenure with comfortable coffers. The noble and generous populace is asked to donate treasures for the auctioning of the Dragon's Hoarde; the autocrat will gladly retrieve and store any donations.

The site opens at 9 AM
Saturday, with opening court at 10. The lists will open at 11 and the Tournament of Monsters will begin at noon. Bring your team of 2-6 fighters, creatively named and costumed, to compete as a monster. Harnesses will be supplied to configure your beast. Fighters are asked to bring one "treasure" for the hoarde per monster team as their entry fee. A $1 per person site fee is requested of the populace for  participation on this day. At 2 PM, the Best Dragon Artwork contest will begin, with Countess Deborah of Mightrinwood as autocrat. Prizes will be awarded in three age categories for the most creative and imaginative dragon in any media constructed on site, from the art materials supplied or those you bring. Throughout the weekend, special commemorative tokens will be available for purchase, featuring a mythological dragon o r the Cross of St. George, depending on your persona's belief system. These tokens may be used to enter simple games of skill and chance for the amusement of the populace.
Commencing at 6 PM, a revel and potluck feast will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 4831 E. 22nd St. Mundane last names A-F please bring Side Dishes (vegetables, fruits, etc.); G-L Main/Meat Dishes; M-R Sweets/Deserts, and S-Z Appetizers/Breads/Cheeses, all contributions to serve 6-8 people. While this is a wet site, alcoholic beverages must be in period containers; De La Roc will provide lemonade and iced tea. Please bring banners; kitchen facilities are available to warm or chill contributions. Prizes will be given for Best Dragon-Themed Food Dish, Best Dragon Table Decoration and winners of the Dragon Artwork contest. After the feast there will be an auction of various donated treasures from the dragon's lair.
On
Sunday, single combat against the Tir Ysgithrian dragon will be held. The site opens at 9:30 am, list will open at 11 AM and dragon combat will begin at noon. All ye fighters who have despaired at the prowess of the old dragon, Take Heart! A younger, less experienced dragon will be holding the field this year. A $1 per attempt entry fee is required to enter the lair. However, for the very brave or foolhardy, "Draconus"  can be enticed to combat for a more generous donation to the baronial coffers.
