G4FGQ
has written a range of DOS programs for working out /modelling Triangular,
Square, Hexagonal, Octagonal, Circular Rectangular transmitting loops, and frame
receiving loop aerials. All three programs are very simple to use, an very
compact. So far they produce comparable results to the spreadsheet but with the
additional factor of height above ground.
If you want one, you get all three
as I have zipped them together into a
tiny 35kB file G4FGQLP.ZIP .
Hans J Kromer DK1NB has put together an excellent suite of loop programs and includes some suggested designs - the variable tube capacitor is a particularly tempting creation. You can grab this freeware program from The Simtel.Net MS-DOS Collection under simtelnet/msdos/hamradio/. The file is mloop31.zip,
(there are other ham radio morsels there worth looking at too). Its a bigish file (400,742bytes), and runs in DOS - with a minimum VGA screen and is very flexible in function.
Click for some useful book and article references, together with the experience of other loop users.
