Historical Flying Saucer Exhibits

When Ed Headrick passed away recently we read obituaries that claimed that the flying saucer was first invented in 1958.  The Ulimate Handbook has an accurate history going back as far as 1948.

To add to this I have scanned some of my old Frisbee memorabilia and placed it on the web at

Also see my
disk physics page, my Hall effect page, a story, or my main page. Blog page.

The exhibits include:

* A
sample cover page from 1972 International Frisbee Association newsletter. This issue featured comments from the fictional leader of the IFA, based on fluids engineer HK Kuiken.

* A page from the
3rd Edition of Ultimate rules - no mention of stall count or spirit of the game - We didn't need no stinking stall count rules.

* An invitation to the
1974 Rose Bowl championship printed in Viking Red

* Articles on
history and spirit excerpted from the 1974 Flying Disc World newsletter.

* The
page in Johnson's 1975 book Frisbee that discusses how the original co-inventor, a US military officer, refused to discuss frisbees.

* An invitation to the
1976 Molson tournament. Note the excellent drawing of the wake flow.

* A 1976 Disk Golf
Parts list (with 1976 prices)

* The cover page of the
seventh edition Ultimate rules

* A 1980 article about
Ultimate offense

* The cover of the
1984 April Fools Tournament program - 16 fantastic glossy pages!
