Gregory Corso was born on March 26th, 1930 on Bleeker Street in Greenwich Village. He met Allen Ginsberg in a bar, as a young man. At the age of sixteen, he spent time in jail because of robbery. At the age of 20, he fell in love with the writers and characters of the Beat Generation. In 1955, his first book was published by City Lights. In 1956, Corso moved to San Francisco and was quickly excepted by the other San Francisco Renaissance poets. On January 17th, 2001, Gregory Corso died of a long-time illness in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He had left New York City to live with his daughter during his long illness.
