Vermont Art Poetry Fusion Prize 2004
The poet T. Namaya's new book of poems GOD SEX POLITICS will be published by Sept. 1, 2004.  All profits from the sale of this book will benefit GRACE Cares projects in Central & South America.
SUMMARY: Artists from any medium will choose one poem from T.Namaya's book GOD SEX POLITICS and represent it in: paint, fabric, multimedia, or sculpture. 10 sample poems are available below. Please click on official rules for important information regarding the parameters and conditions of this contest. Entry fee is $10.00 p/o GRACE CARES
PRIZE: lst prize: $500. 2nd Prize: $250. 3rd Prize: $150. The art will be auctioned off and 60% will go to GRACE CARES and 40% to the artist or the artist can choose to donate their share of the proceeds to GRACE CARES.
ENTRY DEADLINE: November, 30 2004. Exhibition and auction will be at the Weathervane Art Gallery on January 7, 2005. The gallery is located at 19 Elliot Street in Brattleboro, Vermont. Several of the pieces will be exhibited throughout Brattleboro. This is a fundraiser for the foundation GRACE CARES, a not for profit foundation that supports small scale community development projects in Central and South American.

RESTRICTIONS: Art work and paintings shall be no larger than 6 feet by 6 feet (2 meters by 2 meters) Weight shall be less than 100 (40 kilos) pounds for all art work No toxic or hazardous materials accepted. The composition must be solely created by the contestant. Choice of subject is based on the book GOD SEX POLITICS by T.Namaya which can be ordered on-line from GRACES CARES http://www.geocities.com/gracecaresvt/ or http://www.vermontpoet.com Key entrants will be on display in Brattleboro Vermont Jan 2, 2005 to Jan 14, 2005.

ENTRY FEE: Entry Fee is $10.00 payable by cashier or personal cheque p/o: GRACE CARES. All insurance for the art piece is the sole responsibility of the artist.

HOW TO SUBMIT: No entries can be submitted unless the artist/authorized agent are in full agreement with the terms and conditions of the contest. All submissions must include a label with the artist�s name, title, medium, date of artwork and size on the back.

By submitting an entry, each contestant agrees: they have read, understand and will comply with these official rules; and, or to the extent permitted by law, consent to the use of the Contestant�s name, likeness and/or biographical data for purposes of advertising and promotion by GRACE CARES, without further consent, compensation or approval. Original artwork submitted with contest entry becomes the property of GRACES and cannot be returned. All art will be offered at public auction at the close with GRACE CARES receiving 60% of the proceeds and the artist 40%. Contest not open to employees or board members of GRACE CARES.
DEADLINES: Contest deadline is on November 30, 2004. If there is a lack of suitable quality or sufficient volume of prize entrants, prize money may be deferred, and entrants will be submitted for the 2005 Vermont Art Fusion Poetry Prize.
OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS: Each winner of the VERMONT ART FUSION POETRY PRIZE agrees to assign all copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property rights in their winning artwork to GRACE CARES, a not for profit foundation registered in the State of Vermont at 773 Guilford Street Brattleboro, Vermont. A copy of the Assignment shall be provided upon winning. By entering the contest, contestants and/or legal representatives warrant and represent that the artwork is their sole and original work product and release, discharge, indemnify and agree to hold harmless GRACE CARES, its directors, officers, trustees, employees, agents, attorneys, representatives, successors and assigns from all other claims, demands, damages, causes of action, losses, liabilities, injuries or obligations, direct or indirect, known or unknown of any kind, nature or description whatever which the winner, winner�s, parents, guardians, heirs, executors, successors or assigns may have or claim to have against GRACE CARES, its directors, officers, trustees, employees, agents, attorneys, representatives, successors and assigns arising out of participation in or acceptance of any prize in connection with the contest, including any future use of the artwork. All tax liabilities will be the sole responsibility of the contestant. The prizes being awarded may constitute income under applicable federal, state and local tax laws and winners shall be solely responsible for payment of any and all taxes which may be due with respect to the acceptance of the prize. Your permission to display the entry for the contest and later in the archives cannot be reversed and its use or removal is entirely at the discretion of GRACE CARES.
