Grade Level:  First year Office Careers Program students
Subject(s): At work in the office     
Duration: 
1 hour a week for the quarter    
Description: 
Office career information interviews with indiviuals from their offices.

Goals
Students will participate in the informational interviews of different professionals..

Objectives: 
1.  Students will work with two other students as a group to create interview questions for one professional.  2.  Students will actively participate in the informational  3.  Students will post reflections on the web for online peer review.

Prerequisites: 
Knowledge of internet, ability to journal.


Materials:

  • Computers with internet video conferencing ability.
  • IVC equipment to send to interviewees
  • Internet access

Lesson Procedure

  • Introduction
    • Students will be introduced to the different interviewees.
    • Students will be introduced to web journaling and peer review.
  • Main Activities
    • Students will work in groups to come up with questions for their interviewee.
    • Students will learn how to internet video conference. 
    • Students will conduct interviews of employers, human resources, and employees in the administrative field.
    • Students will journal about the interviews and reflect on peer journals.
  • Closure/Conclusion
    •  Students will reflect on the interviews and how this will prepare them for future classes and careers.
  • Follow up lessons/Activities
    • Students will give feedback to classmates via web journaling and online peer review..
