An Introduction to Kim Possible
(And some words about the show.)
On June 7, 2002, Disney aired the first episodes of a new show called Kim Possible. It would soon become one of the most watched and highest rated shows on the Disney Channel, and be given various award nominations, including nominations for the Primetime Emmy award and the Daytime Emmy awards. Regardless of the success and popularity of the show Kim Possible, the show met its fated end in February 2005 after three seasons because of a traditional policy at Disney to limit all their shows to 65 episodes.
While I immediately liked the show when I first saw the show during season one, it was season two that made me fall in love with the show. I can't really explain exactly what it is that appeals so much to me about this show. Everything from the animation to the dialogue to the character development just works so well. And I guess that the driving force of the show is the star of the show, Kim Possible, who many in the audience can't help but love.
While this show's target audience is actually young teens, the show can be enjoyed by older teenagers and young adults at an arguably deeper level. I've seen evidence online and offline that the show's wittier elements appeal to high schoolers, college students, and even adults up to age thirty-nine. So while some may look down upon someone in an older age group loving a Disney cartoon, don't feel shame, my fellow older fans. You're not alone.
Here's to Kim Possible, possibly the best show that Disney has brought us in a very long time.
