Good Morning Reality Concert Chronology
2002
-02/08/02 Syracuse, NY
Westcott Community Center
other acts: Moneen, Fire
Down Below, Amorous Radio, Amanda Rogers, and Jim Heffernan (of Spark Lights
the Friction)'s "yet to be named" band.
-
SETLIST: Dancing In the Kitchen / In
the Woods / Two Hours Ago / The Sweetest Dilemma / Stressed Spelled Backwards
For Relief / Poignant
Notes: Great show! All the bands kicked serious ass and everyone
should check them out. Our first show of the year and our first show
with Bobby back in the fold after a 6 month stint in Egypt. Everything
sounded really good and the songs were well received. People were
grooving to the newly written "Poignant" and getting down to "Two Hours
Ago". Overall a kick ass show and more to come, so keep watch.
We also played a new intro, which was really a full band version of the
acoustic jam "Dancing In the Kitchen" from our new EP "Kill This. Save
Parts."
-02/15/02 Auburn, NY
Salvation Army Gymnasium
other acts: Chopping Mall,
Sheol, It Dies Today.
-
SETLIST: Intro / Hovering / In the
Woods / Par-4 / The Sweetest Dilemma / Two Hours Ago / Stressed Spelled
Backwards For Relief / The Wrecking Ball / Poignant
Notes: First open mic night at the Salvation Army Gymnasium
in Auburn. Fun was had by all. The sound / acoustics were kind
of a problem when performing though. At first we had a few tuning
/ microphone problems but they were worked out and we rocked out with a
slightly longer than usual setlist which was cool. We kicked off
with the 'Auburn' intro then went into "Hovering" which hasn't been played
in a while. Then came a little jam intro to "In the Woods" then the
old favorite "Par-4". We continued to kick things up a notch, culminating
with the epic "The Wrecking Ball" heh. Then we cooled things down
with the brand new "Poignant" and it was done. garrrr had been really
sick with the flu since last Friday's Moneen show so he was pretty out
of it tonight, too many cough drops. EP out soon!
-03/09/02 Fulton, NY
VFW
other acts: Josh Cough,
Murdock, Biermann Electric, Pete's Dark Moment, and Last Year
-
SETLIST: Intro / Two Hours Ago / In
the Woods / Stressed Spelled Backwards For Relief / The Sweetest Dilemma
/ Par-4 / The Wrecking Ball / Poignant
Notes: All the bands did a killer job! We did good as
well. Unfortunately we had a ton of tuning, amplifier, and cord problems
for some reason. We still rocked the batter despite the problems.
We did the heavy metal Intro that we normally do, "Two Hours Ago" rocked
as usual, "Poignant" sounded extra cool tonight for some reason.
Overall it kicked some major ass.
-03/15/02 Auburn, NY
Salvation Army Gymnasium
other acts: Far From Alive,
some old guy, Between Walls and If Hope Dies
-
SETLIST: In the Woods / Stressed Spelled
Backwards For Relief / The Sweetest Dilemma / Two Hours Ago / Par-4 / The
Wrecking Ball / Poignant
Notes: Another Salvation Army open mic night in Auburn.
Everyone did a great job. Between Walls really rocked the batter
tonight! We were plagued by more tuning problems and faulty cords
again... someday this will end... someday... Besides that, though,
we rocked out and served up another set of kick ass versions of our songs.
EP out soon... Show next Friday in Leray.
-03/30/02 Gouverneur, NY
Elk's Lodge
other acts: Cadet 52, Dead
End and Amorous Radio
-
SETLIST: Intro / S.O.S. / Par-4 / Wake
/ Two Hours Ago / Filk / In the Woods / The Sweetest Dilemma / The Wrecking
Ball / Poignant / I Give Up
Notes: The show we've all been waiting for and what a show it
was! There were over 200 people there! Every band did a killer
job and I can't wait for another show like this. The crowd was amazing,
everyone was moshing and singing along to everything! It was insane!
We played a well balanced set of old and new songs including the old days
opener "Filk," the new song "S.O.S." (which will definitely benefit from
more practice), "Wake," and "I Give Up." Bobby, unfortunately, had
to leave early so he didn't get to play with us tonight so we played as
a three-piece. Every show should be like this one, you could feel
the love in the room for everyone who played and that is a kick ass feeling!
"I Give Up" was dedicated to another local band, Slow on the Uptake.
If Hope Dies' drummer Brandon had to work so they didn't get to play, they
would like to apologize to everyone there who wanted to see them.
-04/16/02 Watertown, NY
L.A. Moore's House
other acts: Triple Footed
Gnome, Novocaine, Slow on the Uptake, Dead End, and Between Reason
-
SETLIST: Two Hours Ago / In the Woods
/ The Sweetest Dilemma / The Wrecking Ball / I Give Up / Poignant
Notes: OK, so this show was supposed to be at The Edge, but
they screwed us over by never showing up and then claiming that their club
was too small and that L.A. never got back to them, which he did.
So, L.A., being the cool guy he is, would not let the music die and moved
the show to his house downtown. So as an apology to the fans for
the Edge's crap, we put on a cool free concert for everyone who stayed
to enjoy. Of course after about 5 minutes the cops were there because
of the 100 kids on the streets but they were cool about it and let us have
the show anyway as long as we got off the road and there was no alcohol
and we didn't disturb the neighbors. Luckily, all 6 bands still got
to play. Everyone kicked ass. We played a great, energetic,
sweat filled set in the kitchen. Bobbo also got to finally play with
us again and he totally ripped it up! We played everything from the
soon to be released (some day in a galaxy far far away) EP and then "I
Give Up" (Slow on the Uptake love that one, thank God, so we actually get
to play it again!) and then ended with good old "Poignant." Poor
Mikey dropped a stick near the end of "Poignant" but I really don't think
anyone noticed. The rock show was awesome! It whooped a Horse's
ass! Yeah, well anyway, it was totally cool and L.A. totally kicks
ass for not letting this show die a lonely Watertown Bar death at the hands
of the evil Edge. HRNT! You guys should boo that place when
you drive by. I don't know. Maybe not. Oh well.
If they only knew how much money they missed out on...
-04/24/02 Syracuse, NY
Armory High
other acts: Home Grown, Finch, Saving
Throw and Straighter Than Pete
-
SETLIST: Intro
/ Two Hours Ago / In the Woods / Stressed Spelled Backwards For Relief
/ The Sweetest Dilemma / I Give Up
Notes: Our first show at Armory High with some great local bands
and bands from Drive-Thru Records. We opened the show. We could
have been much better, I thought. Mike and I were both sick so we
weren't really playing as well as we could have, plus Bobby couldn't make
it so we had to play as a three-piece. Crowd response to us was ok,
mostly just applause after a song. We had a lot of technical difficulties
as usual so we played "I Give Up" rather than "Poignant" because Jake's
distortion wouldn't turn off. Not our best show but at least "In
the Woods" and "The Sweetst Dilemma" sounded great!
-05/05/02 Oswego, NY
SUNY Oswego
other acts: Saving Throw, Without Andy,
Biermann Electric, Murdock
-
SETLIST: Intro
/ Hovering / Two Hours Ago / Stressed Spelled Backwards For Relief / The
Sweetest Dilemma / In the Woods / Par-4 / The Wrecking Ball / Poignant
Notes: A great show, lots of fun was had by all. Bobby
was once again playing with us. All the bands kicked serious ass.
I liked them all. We closed a nice hot day in the sun with a rocking
set of originals which started off with "Hovering". Jake doesn't
want to play that one again because it just sounded weird for some reason,
could be because we haven't played it in so long. oh well...
still a great show over all.
-05/10/02 Auburn, NY
Salvation Army Gymnasium
other acts: Fairmont
and Kid Brother Collective
-
SETLIST: Par-4
/ In the Woods / Two Hours Ago / The Sweetest Dilemma / S.O.S.
Notes: This was supposed to be the Garrison show but apparently
Garrison is too big to play such a small show. That's a really $hitty
thing to do on their part. Especially cancelling just hours before
the show. I mean Fairmont came from New Jersey and Kid Brother Collective
came all the way from Michigan to play. At least they're still about
the music and not how many people will be there or the money or whatever.
oh well... We were really energetic at this show... well at least
I
was. When we started to play "In the Woods" we discovered that Jake
hadn't tuned back up from "Par-4" so that was kind of funny. During
"Two Hours Ago" Jake's guitar strap fell off 3 times, so he just gave up
and danced for the ending. We played "S.O.S." for the first time
as a 4-piece and it rocked, except Mike wouldn't stop at the end, heh heh.
We got shut down after "S.O.S." so we didn't get to play "Poignant."
That really sucked ass. Oh well. Can't wait for the 25th.
-05/25/02 Gouverneur, NY
Elk's Lodge
other acts: Amorous Radio
and Dead End
-
SETLIST: Overlap Intro / Perfect Like
This / S.O.S. / In the Woods / Par-4 / The Sweetest Dilemma / Two Hours
Ago / Hovering / The Wrecking Ball / Poignant / I Give Up
Notes: Wow! This show really rocked! In my opinion, probably
the best set we've done all year so far. The Gouverneur shows always
seem to be our best. Dead End ripped up the place! They have
improved so much! Everytime I hear them they just get better and
better! Amorous Radio also was a crowd pleaser. Between Reason's
drummer got in an accident so they couldn't play. We wish him a speedy
recovery. I Hate Sally and Lovesick Bruise couldn't make it either
so it was just Dead End, Amorous Radio and us. A great time was still
had by all, however. We started the set by playing the beginning
of the old favorite "Overlap" as a teaser to all the 'old school' G.M.R.
fans in the crowd. Then we kicked right into "Perfect Like This"
for the first time in 10 months! It sounded great and better than
it ever did when it was first played back in 2001. Then the new rocker
"S.O.S." was played again and boy does that one keep getting better and
more energetic! Then the swaying "In the Woods", good ol' "Par-4"
(a love song about golf. heh heh) and a beautiful "The Sweetest Dilemma"
with everyone singing along. Then came the three rockers "Two Hours
Ago" (which always kills me physically... I think this is the one where
I smashed my knee.) Of course I announce that we will probably no
longer play "Hovering" and yet here it is, sounding the better than ever,
actually. "The Wrecking Ball" kicked total ass with Bobby doing some
really mean-ass back-ups and then the three-part "Watching the Wrecking
Ball!!!" also ruled! We mellowed out with a pretty out of tune "Poignant"
(sorry) but made up for it in full with a killer "I Give Up" to close out!
(Dedicated to... You guessed it! Armando and Slow on the Uptake! hrnt)
The new EP was on-sale as well as the new pins and shirts and tickets for
the acoustic show. Can't wait for that one. Hope I don't suck...
heh heh.
-06/07/02 Sackets Harbor, Ny
One Art
other acts: Driving In June and
garrrr
-
garrrr: Wish It Would Never End / If
You Want / No Hurry / Concerned / Feel to Monday / Painless Evening
-
SETLIST: In the Woods / Looking at
Life / Stressed Spelled Backwards For Relief / Almost There (OK) / Perfect
Like This / Two Hours Ago / Poignant / The Sweetest Dilemma / Gordy and
the Worms / Dreaming
-
ENCORE: I Give Up / The Wrecking Ball
/ Par-4 / Spoken Thoughts / My Hero
Notes: Wow. This was our first acoustic show, I can't
wait to do another one! The show started off with me, garrrr, doing
an acoustic set of originals and a couple of covers where I debuted my
new song "Feel to Monday". Driving In June was just Alex and his
keyboard and was, well, very interesting to say the least... heh.
We played a great set of new and old material and debuted the full band
"Almost There (OK)", which was extremely beautiful. Other great performances
included "Stressed Spelled Backwards For Relief", "Two Hours Ago", "Perfect
Like This", "Poignant", the surprise "Gordy and the Worms" and "The Wrecking
Ball". This show was hard for us because we're so used to rocking
out electric, but we wanted to show everyone that we can play and don't
just hide behind distortion and screaming, these songs really do hold up!
The fans wouldn't even let us stop and kept demanding encores, by the end
we were so tired...
-06/08/02 Calcium, NY
Firehall
other acts: Manifest Destiny,
Triple Footed Gnome and Slow on the Uptake
-
SETLIST: Heart-Shaped Box / In the
Woods / Perfect Like This / Two Hours Ago / The Sweetest Dilemma / Par-4
/ The Wrecking Ball / I Give Up
Notes: Not 100% sure of the order, I'll have to watch Bobby's
video of the show to be sure. Another kick ass show and only a day
after the acoustic show! We played a great rocking set that consisted
of killer versions of "In the Woods", "Two Hours Ago", "Perfect Like This",
"The Wrecking Ball" and "The Sweetest Dilemma". We began with a cover
of Nirvana's "Heart-Shaped Box" sung by our friend Shawn Marshall, which
we played for him as a tribute to his friend who recently died in a fire.
Jake didn't do the Snare Drum thing tonight during "In the Woods", oh well...
maybe next time. "Two Hours Ago" had one of the craziest mosh pits
I have ever seen in my life and it caused our mic stands to fall over and
one person got an eye laceration. As usual, "The Sweetest Dilemma"
had a huge sing-along. Truly a crazy show and some of the most fun
I've ever had. You guys should really check out Slow on the Uptake
on the 29th at their final show! Armando is nuts!
-06/10/02 Syracuse, NY
OPL
other acts: Drowningman,
Eiffel, Little League and Arms Length
-
SETLIST: Stressed Spelled Backwards
For Relief / In the Woods / Two Hours Ago / The Sweetest Dilemma / S.O.S.
Notes: We had to play as a three-piece again because Bobbo couldn't
make it. This show was a lot of fun and we played practically flawless!
We kicked off with an intense "Stressed Spelled Backwards For Relief" and
went right into "In the Woods", which included the recorded intro from
the CD and Jake did the Snare Drum thing again!!! "Two Hours Ago"
was as intense as ever, but little to no moshing tonight because of the
enclosed space. "The Sweetest Dilemma" was fun as always. "S.O.S.",
our newest song, sounded perfect tonight! Big hopes for this song
when we can finally record it in the studio! I need to get a lyric
sheet from Jake. All the other bands did a great job. Can't
wait for Tuesday at the Planet 505!
