Good Morning Reality Concert Chronology

1999

-03/06/99  Philadelphia, NY                                                    801 Civic Center
     SOUNDCHECK: Due / Nobody Here / Rut / Ill-Fated
     SETLIST: Due / Translucent / Filk / Last Saturday / Concerned / How I Miss You / Don't Ruin a Good Thing / Rut / Filler / Nobody Here / Overlap / Sociable / Ill-Fated
ENCORE: Concerned / Everlong / Up In the Attic
Notes: The infamous Zam-Zam show.  The band's last name change, back to Alkutezio.  Small crowd due to the snow storm outside, thus inspiring the "Ill-Fated" lyrics "[F]uck the weathermen".  First show of 1999, lots of firsts in the setlist, "Don't Ruin a Good Thing", the rare "Nobody Here", and "Ill-Fated".  Josh had rejoined the band and Scott had left after the last show.  "Sociable" made a rare return to the set as well.  "Concerned" was played again in the encore upon request.  Very rare appearance of "Up In the Attic" with Josh on lead vocals.

-04/09/99  Philadelphia, NY                                                              Garage
support: The Drapers, ¿Set on Solo?

¿SET ON SOLO?: Karma Police / Lucky
     SETLIST: Translucent / Due / Rut / Filk / Last Saturday / Concerned / Pop Song 9 / Mr. Greene / Overlap / O'Neill
ENCORE: Don't Ruin a Good Thing / Looking at Life / Here Come House
Notes: The infamous show where Josh quit during "Concerned."  Many equipment problems plagued this show too.  A very early "Looking at Life" is performed by Jacob and Bobby only.  After Josh quits, BiNkY hArRiSoN joins the band onstage playing bass for "Mr. Greene", "Overlap", and "O'Neill" and Scott officially joins the band as the full time drummer.  Meatless Grillers' "Pop Song 9" enters the set, "O'Neill" makes a comeback, and "Here Come House" is debuted.

-04/23/99  Philadelphia, NY                                      Theater of the Performing Arts

REHEARSALS: Filk / Last Saturday / Due
SETLIST: Filk / Last Saturday / Concerned
Notes: The final Indian River High School Talent Show performance by Alkutezio, who won 3rd place after a very good performance.  The first post-Hagen show (Josh played bass during the rehearsals about a month earlier).  "Concerned" is played to the surprise of the coordinaters who heard "Due" at the rehearsals.

-05/22/99  Philadelphia, NY                                                    801 Civic Center

SOUNDCHECK: Due / There Is a Light That Never Goes Out / Translucent
SETLIST: Pop Song 9 / Due / Translucent / Filk / Last Saturday / Concerned / Overlap / Looking at Life / Rut / Filler / Burnout / Mr. Greene
     ENCORE: Here Come House
Notes: The first full show with Scott on drums.  The set is a well rounded batch of the band's current repertoire.  More equipment problems plague this show, but the band doesn't let it bother them as much as it used to.  The rare "Burnout" makes an appearance, played quiet in the verses and very heavy and fast in the choruses.  The first full band "Looking at Life" is played as well.

-05/28/99  Philadelphia, NY                                                            Bus Stop

     SETLIST: Pop Song 9 / Due / Translucent / Filk / Last Saturday / Concerned / Rut / Don't Ruin a Good Thing / Looking at Life
Notes: An all acoustic guitar show featuring Jacob, Bobby, and Garrett only.  Not really a real show, but there was an audience of at least 5-10 people who wanted to hear the band play, so they did.  Very interesting arrangements of the songs, some having 3-part vocal harmonies.

-06/05/99  Antwerp, NY                                                               Pool Party

SETLIST: Pop Song 9 / Due / Translucent / Filk / Last Saturday / Rut / Concerned / Looking at Life / Sociable / Overlap / Mr. Greene
Notes: An average show, mild equipment problems (Jacob's guitar pedal on the fritz again!), regular setlist.  The now rare "Sociable" and "Mr. Greene" are played.

-07/28/99  Watertown, NY                                                              Time Warp

SETLIST: Rut / Looking at Life
Notes: Acoustic show feauturing Jacob and Bobby only.  Open mic night at the Time Warp.  Carl Michael Austin (The Magic Man) guest stars on bass for "Looking at Life".

-07/30/99  Watertown, NY                                                                Jaspers
     other acts: The Chasers

     SETLIST: Don't Ruin a Good Thing / Overlap / Concerned / Rut / Ill-Fated
Notes: The show that almost didn't happen.  The Chasers asked Alkutezio to open, but their drummer never showed up, but later their old drummer showed up with his kit and Alkutezio got to play.  First real show in front of an audience that didn't consist of the band's close friends and fans.  The band played kind of average, mainly due to the fact that they had to use The Chasers' equipment.

-10/21/99  Potsdam, NY                                                                  Hurleys
other acts: can't remember the opener, John Shaner, Seth Warren, Sean "Agent" Orrange, etc.

SETLIST: Don't Ruin a Good Thing / Due / Looking at Life / Too Personal / Dreaming
Notes: The first public performance by a member of the band since the recording of the album.  Also the first of Garrett's acoustic solo shows at Potsdam College.  The first show was used to promote "nothing lasts forever*". The crowd (estimated to be about 70!) response was great to the songs, "Too Personal" was performed for the first time, a new song written that afternoon, very different lyrics than it has now.

-10/28/99  Potsdam, NY                                                                  Hurleys
other acts: Seth Warren, John Shaner, Sean "Agent" Orrange, etc.

SETLIST: Karma Police / Filler / Where Is My Mind? / It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)
Notes: Another Garrett solo acoustic show, this time with covers of "Karma Police" by Radiohead, "Where Is My Mind?" by the Pixies, and "It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" by R.E.M.  "Filler" was also thrown into the set.

-11/11/99  Potsdam, NY                                                                  Hurleys
other acts: Ernst, John Shaner, Seth Warren, etc.

SETLIST: Repulsion / Texarkana / Wish It Would Never End / Learn to Fly
Notes: The third acoustic solo show by Garrett, very different setlist this time around.  Covers included "Repulsion" by Dinosaur Jr., "Texarkana" by R.E.M., and "Learn to Fly" by Foo Fighters.  "Wish It Would Never End" is a song by Garrett that was scrapped over a year ago and was never meant to see the light of day but he found the lyrics and remembered how to play it so he thought "oh, what the hell, why not!?" and treated the audience to a very rare performance.  The first time any of these songs have been played live by any member of the band.

-11/18/99  Potsdam, NY                                                                  Hurleys
other acts: Sean "Agent" Orrange, etc.

SETLIST: Don't Ruin a Good Thing / Looking at Life / Overlap / Concerned
Notes: The fourth and last of Garrett's acoustic solo shows at Hurleys for the year.  Great versions of "Overlap" and "Concerned".  Nice slow version of "Concerned" sang differently than usual.  A soundboard recording of the show exists minus "Don't Ruin a Good Thing" and the beginning of "Looking at Life".  For "Overlap" he donned a wool cap in the spirit of Kevin.
