I had an awesome time performing as Fritz in The Nutcracker this year. We rehearsed long and hard for the show. It was lots of fun, even when the rehearsal started at 9AM and went till 7PM. Luckily, I didn't have to dance the whole time that day. I had chances to hang out with friends and watch the other people dance. We were fortunate to have so many rehearsals, especially the three nights at the theater. It gave us a chance to practice in the space where we would perform.
I participated in the two outreach shows our studio presented. We performed one show for the high school students from the school where we were using the theater, and another for elementary students from some nearby schools. After the first show, some of the high school students stayed and asked us questions about what it's like being a dancer. After the elementary students' show, the kids mostly wanted to say hi and touch our costumes!
We performed three shows throughout the weekend of December 9th and 10th. I was a little nervous before the first show, but when I walked on stage I forgot about being nervous and just played my part. In the role of Fritz I had a few fast changes, but always managed to get on stage in time. Everyone performed their best at all three shows. When the curtain closed after the last show, I was so disappointed because it was over, but I was proud that everyone had done a really good job. Check out the photo album that is on my Photos link above to see more pictures from the show.
After the show was over, I had a great Christmas and holiday season. Even though we were busy, my family decorated the inside and outside of our house. We put lights and garland all around our fence, and our treee was beautiful. On Christmas Eve, we picked up my grandpa from his nursing home and brought him to our house. I had a great time while he was here. I played the piano for him and we ate dinner together. He really enjoyed the traditional Polish Christmas Eve foods. On Christmas Day I played two songs on the piano at our church. When we got home there were lots of really cool presents waiting for us.(There is a Christmas photo album on my Photos link as well.)
The day after Christmas, my family went to our grandparents' in Connecticut with Patch. I saw many of my aunts and uncles on my dad's side while we were there. We also got more presents while we were there! My favorite was the portable DVD player for Gabrielle and me. We were able to watch a movie on the long ride home! I definitely had a great holiday season. I hope you did, too.

The Nutcracker was really fun. I was an angel again this year, but we did a different dance than we did last year. All the angels had fun backstage, too where we could play together quietly.
I got a sewing machine for Christmas from Santa. I was really surprised and happy. I had been wanting one, and I thought I might get a kid's sewing machine. I got a real, grown-up machine! I was learning to sew by hand with a needle and thread, but the sewing machine goes so much faster! I am still learning, but it is fun.
On New Year's Eve, I got to go over to our friends for dinner. I played with my friends, but we came home to go to sleep. My mom woke me up near midnight on New Year's Eve. I was really tired but I wanted to see the ball drop in New York. Nicholas stayed up the whole time. We had some juice and pie to celebrate and then I went back to sleep!
