Patch
This month we have adopted a dog! He is a two-year-old golden retriever. He came with the name Patch beacause he has a ridge on the top of his snout. He loves company and loves to play outside. He is so big and furry he looks like a lion! Patch loves to swim and chase geese.
Patch is very friendly. He will lick you alot if you just stick your hand in front of his nose. The first time we met him, he ran up to us and started sniffing us and let us pet him right away. Mostly, Patch loves to be near people.  He loves just to lay down next to someone and be petted. He is never in a room by himself. He loves anyone's attention and can be counted on for love.
Patch has some interesting behaviors. One is that he burps alot after eating! When we bring him outside, he will chew any sticks that he finds. He would rather chase a stick than a ball. The first few days that we had him, he watched us doing our school work and kept a close eye on our pencils. They looked like sticks to him!
When Patch wants to be scratched, he will roll on his back and kick his legs like he's peddling a bicycle until someone scratches his belly. When he has a toy in his mouth, Patch doesn't want anybody to touch his feet. He will hop and look like he is dancing if you try to touch his paws. Patch definitely has some odd mannerisms, but he is a great dog and he makes us laugh!
Patch is a very good dog to snuggle up with. He's just like a great big, fluffy pillow. He has a really big head and huge paws the size of my palm. Because he is so big and fluffy we nicknamed him "lion." Everyone else notices how big he is too, but they also notice how gentle he is. He weighs about 90 pounds, but he is careful around Gabrielle and even lets her take him for a walk on the leash. He loved visiting my grandpa in the nursing home. We are hoping that we can sign up for classes and have Patch certified as a Pet Therapy Dog!
