April seemed to go by very quickly! We spent the end of March and the beginning of April with our friends in Venice, Florida. We had a wonderful time in Florida and it was hard to come back. You can check on Page 4 for pictures and details about our trip.
April was a busy month. After we returned from Florida, we got ready for our new addition to the family! We finally have a dog of our own! We were lucky enough to find a great dog to adopt from a family that my dad knew. You can meet our new dog on
Page 3!
We had a very nice Easter. Gabrielle and I decorated lots of eggs. We each received a book, video and art activity in our Easter baskets. We had alot of fun searching for the hidden Easter eggs. Our dog didn't even bother the eggs! It was such a nice day that we were able to play outside.
I also had a retreat at church one weekend to get ready for my Confirmation. There are pictures and a short article about my Confirmation on
page 4.
This month my dad's first novel was published! He wrote a book for teenagers called,
Defining Dulcie. It came out in bookstores on April 20th and we had a surprise party for him that night. Gabrielle and I made signs and put them all over the house and we had a cake with a picture of his book cover on it. We put signs on our door that said, "Famous Author Lives Here! Autographs available!" It's been really exciting and his book has received many good reviews. If you haven't seen it already, you can check out his website at:  www.paulacampora.com
This month my Boy Scout Troop had our award banquet, called a "Court of Honor." We have them about twice a year. During the banquets everybody has dinner and the scouts receive their advancements. At this Court of Honor, I earned the ranks of Second and First Class. I also earned the First Aid Merit Badge. A few requirements I had to do to earn the Second and First class ranks were to cook a meal on a camping trip, explain how to use the food pyramid to plan meals, identify native plants and learn how to orient myself with a map and compass. For the First Aid Merit Badge I had to become certified in First Aid and CPR. I had to make first aid kits for camping and for home and show what to do in different emergencies. I also had to study really hard so that I could pass a long handwritten test. Out of the whole troop, I scored the highest on the test! I am really proud to have earned these difficult advancements.

We are hoping to get started in the garden soon. The weather is starting to warm up. With all these other activities, I've still been busy with school, dance, piano, flute and playing with my friends. I'm looking forward to all the activities that are coming in May!

Gabrielle's Grab Bag
Gabrielle loved going to Florida. She especially liked being with our friend, Ryan. Gabrielle was the shell collector this year. Anywhere there were shells, you would find Gabrielle. She filled buckets and buckets with shells! Gabrielle was sad about leaving Florida, but excited about getting our dog, Patch. What Gabrielle really wanted was to stay in Florida and have Patch flown out to us!!
When Gabrielle went with to pick up Patch, she was so giddy that she couldn't speak, even when Patch jumped on her and started licking her all over! When the dog was finally in the car all she could do was giggle and pet the dog! She has loved having Patch become part of our family.
Gabrielle has started to enjoy playing with K-nex and Legos. She has built castles, boats and fish out of K-nex and spaceships, little machines and cars with Legos. She had fun on Easter looking for hidden Easter eggs and playing outside because it was so nice. Gabrielle is looking forward to starting soccer in May.
