ATHENS. Ga. � For the second straight weekend the Vanderbilt men�s tennis team competed in a Fall invitational tournament when the Commodores went down to Georgia for the 2005 Southern Intercollegiate Championships. The tournament featured 133 student- athletes from 25 different universities.

The best VU performance on the weekend belonged to junior Nathan Sachs (Alpharetta, Ga.) who won his first three matches before falling to Prediag Burmazovic of South Carolina � Upstate 0-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinals of the Division II Singles bracket.

Fish Leads Commodores with No. 17 Ranking

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its 2005 preseason ranking for singles and double play Tuesday and several Commodores found their way onto the list.

Junior Amanda Fish (Scituate, Mass.) was the highest ranked Commodore at No. 17. She was the sixth-highest ranked student-athlete from the Southeastern Conference (No. 1 Jennifer Magley, Florida; No. 4 Robin Stephenson, Alabama; No. 6 Shadisha Robinson, Georgia; No. 15 Kim Coventry, Kentucky; and No. 16 Natalie Frazier, Georgia).
summer Fish and Bertrand teamed up to take second place in the doubles at the USTA Women�s Satellite Tour of Baltimore. Fish also took second place in the singles portion of the event. The two Commodores are also ranked No. 20 in the preseason doubles rankings.
