Learn About Track
Track is
the sport I run to
get faster and in shape for cross country. I know that's not the attitude that
probably should be taken, but it is truly how I feel about it. I run on the
distance team. There are a few major distinctions to track. If anyone says they
run track you should ask them which of the following they do. The first is, as
I've said distance. The second is hurdles which is sprinting over hurdles. the
longest race being 300 M. Next is the sprint team. Their longest race is
typically the 400 M. Then their are th e
field events. This category is split up into the throwers who throw the shot
putt and Discus and into the jumpers who do the long and high jump.
I
Run distance which means that I run anything from the 800M(.5 mile) to the 3200
M(2 miles). My specific events are actually those two. I run the 4 by 8 relay
which is 4 runners each running and 800M, and the 3200 run. Track is a good way to see what
skills you have, especially if you've never run or been in a sport before. You
don't necessarily have to have experience in running to be good at it. Although
I think It definitely helps. |
