The First thing that needs to be told is Josephine GOUDY Bullack was always known as Jo. It was carved in stone that she was Jo and Jo she remained as long as she lived. Jo was barely 11 when her father Joseph Kirkpatrick Goudy died and only 20 when her mother passed on. We can only assume that her family was left with out many means. as the City Directory shows that by the age of 17 Jo was employed at the Sanitary Dairy in Colorado Springs where she continued to work until 1910 when she and Claude Bullack "eloped " by taking the train to Goodland Kansas where they were married and according to the Colorado Springs Telegraph, where Claude was employed, they waited a week to announce "They are Mr. and Mrs. Bullack now". Jo suffered most of her adult life from crippling arthritis.
