Opening Hours:
After initially parking your car in the car park, visitors can make their way to the visitor centre to purchase their tickets for the bus to the castle and gardens. The only extra cost in the park after you buy this ticket is if you want to take a guided tour of the castle interior. If you visit Glenveagh only intending to go for a walk, then this is free of charge as of Summer 2002.

Directions to Glenveagh National Park
Get on to the N56 from Letterkenny, and keep on that road passing through the town of Kilmacrennan. Continue on the N56 past Kilmacrennan for around three miles and take a left turn just before you reach the small town called Termon, you will see a sign post on the turn off saying Glenveagh National Park. This will bring you onto the R251. Keep on this road for another few miles eventually after 10 minutes driving or so you will come to the entrance to Glenveagh National Park.

Below is a map of the Glenveagh area including a portion of Gartan Lake. There is some of the most beautiful scenery in Donegal here and it is ideal Hillwalking country. Remember if you visit the region to leave the landscape like you found it, i.e. unspoilt! Do not interfere with wildlife and take all rubbish home with you.

You Never know what you might spot on the road to glenveagh! Perhaps a pheasant dinner!
