Locomotives of the GHLR.
GHLR locomotives are chosen carefully. They all have to be able to negotiate 2ft radius curves with minimum overhang, be easy to maintain/service, have no more than three driven axles or four in total, be no longer than 45cm, have an axle load of no more than 1.5Kg, be able to operate over the ferocious gradients of the line, and be equally controllable/powerful in either direction. Visiting locomotives must comply with the above, but the axle load may stretch to 1.75Kg in certainm circumstances. Individual locomotives may be assessed by me before running should doubt arise over their suitability.
Current locomotives consist of two steam locomotives and two battery-electric locomotives. A new steam locomoitve is currently on order, and should be delivered by the ned of August.
Mainstay of motive power is currently battery-electric, though steam locomotives (mainly No.1) run on the last Sunday of every month, and every Sunday and Wednesday during school holidays. Steam locomotives also visit other railways, sometimes supplemented with a battery-electric.
