Well after that shock result at Histon who cares about the Hastings Intermediate Cup, although the young lads of Tackleway showed United how to take your chances, as the facts show, but United never got out of first gear until it was too late, although they did have chances in the dying minutes, but without a known striker United were stuck.

The first half was non-eventful with Tackleway the only side to pressure either keeper with Rikki Matthews powerful shot well saved by Harris-Green.  Uniteds only chance was James Sims shot that was easily fumbled by Corbin.

But Tackleway got off to a flyer as yet again after the break United couldnt get back into the rhythm, the Tackleway centre-half was put through by Sam Adams and Jamie Adams slotted the ball home, the defence was in shock they let slip and it proved to be costly.  United looked comfortable in defence and midfield but when they got upfront they had no real clue.

But United made their own mistakes upfront Dominic Cruttendens cross was clipped by the keeper but Ian Young was too far advanced to make contact with the ball, and before United knew it Tackleway showed how luck can be the afternoons winner, Adams got past two defenders with deflections and eventually the ball ran loose and Adams dispatched the ball home.

United made inroads into the tiring Tackleway defence, Peter Taylor got the ball past keeper Corbin, he laid the ball back to Sims who hammered the ball straight at the defender on the line.  But Taylor was effective in the latter parts of the game and he took his chance well late on, the ball came out from a corner and Peter Taylor hammered the ball into the top left hand corner from the edge of the box.

United pressed at the end without Tackleway showing signs of scoring again, James Sims whos come back from up the road had a few chances late on, the best chance came in the last minute, when a Danny Ellis corner came straight through the box and Sims hit it at the far post, and you couldnt have got it nearer the outside of the post without hitting it if you tried.

United went home without a chance to play in the final, but with the first team winning, I liked it, most fans didnt want extra time it was too cold.  Also credit has to go to referee Mr Steve Taylor from Heathfield, he couldnt have missed more if he tried, and neither could the Tackleway official, and can linesmen coach from the line
